Does anyone have a SR in ship 3 div 027 in here?  I have an "adopted" daughter in there.

Good morning everyone!  Please look at the discussion above about our Basket Project for Sarge's Meet & Greet.  I'm excited that someone on our Facebook page has already agreed to make a basket...if you need more info, please message me! Thanks!

If someone needs a ride from Chicago Midway on 12/4 around 8pm into Waukegan we will be glad to help. There are 3 of us my husband, daughter and myself. We are renting a car so I am sure we will have room for 1 possible 2. Same for return we are going back to Midway on 12/7. May God Bless our SR and their family.

Sorry so long, I just want to look at all the scenarios and not leave anything out...

Megan,

The way your SR's mom is communicating with you is exactly why you should be meeting at a nice little coffee place to talk out the PIR plans instead of going back and forth~~  PIR is very important in your SR's life and sitting down woman to woman needs to really happen.  There has got to be an hour somewhere in your schedules that you coul meet quickly to talk.  Doesn't have to be lunch and shopping or a half a day thing.  You've got just about exactly 1 month to coordinate.  Can you just let her know that if she has already found airline flights and times to please let you know so you can pay for your ticket too on the same flight and would they mind giving you a ride from the airport to the hotel?  Are they also staying at the Navy Lodge?  Maybe she is thinking you might expect her to pay for your way there if she "invites" you to go with them??   So she is not sure about "keeping you in the loop?"  Hoping it is as simple as this, but I also think you might have already mentioned you would pay for your own airfare and hotel room, but maybe she wasn't quite listening because she was immersed in her own plans for PIR?

The one who will be disappointed and put off will be the SR that his family and you both love!  He is the focus of PIR and why you are all there. All involved should come together and coordinate for his sake.  His mom wouldn't want him mad at her or his dad if you couldn't be there because they didn't give you airfare info in time and it got too expensive for you~~  At the same time, you don't want to turn into one of those horrible significant others who wants your beloved SR/Sailor to totally cut off all contact with his family (there are those types out there too.)  It's a really bad cycle that doesn't need to happen.

So for planning time with your SR on PIR day.  PIR ends at 10:30 am.  The easiest way to get to him is to have him stay put on the floor and you and his family go to him since you all probably had your eyes on him in his division.  He can either leave with you all right away or he may go back to his barracks to get his wallet and have you all wait at the NEX.  Then you should have anywhere until about 8:00 pm (or thereabouts) with him.  You will need to plan when and where to take him out to eat a meal--could be lunch or late afternoon dinner.  Will he want Steak (Lovell's or Wildfire) or Chicago Pizza (Giordano's).  Wlil his parents get some family time with him, then you get a couple of hours alone with him after that?  Or maybe you should spend time with him first, then he goes to his parents and they will make sure he gets back to RTC on time?  Will you all go together to meet him at the airport and see him off at the boarding gate?

Lots of details to coordinate for your SR's sake~~  You seem very gracious and understanding too!  Prayers for a breakthrough for his family and you~~  Aim is to get on the same page for your SR~~

Megan,
I'm just now catching up on the comments. We are bringing our SR's girlfriend with us...even though she's not on the list for PIR (he put mom, dad & sister), we want her to go with us to Great Lakes to spend his Liberty with us.
I'm so sorry you're having these struggles. It's hard enough missing your SR without added stress. Will be praying for you.

Thank you everyone, CatMom that helps a lot.

I've tried seeing if we could meet up but our schedules always conflict. She did mention earlier today that she didn't have an agenda yet and to let her know what was going on but the way she worded it made it seem like I was supposed to decied what everyone was doing. I've talked to my SR and given him ideas (in case he can't make a decision on his own) about what he wants to do so hopefully I can relay that to his mother. I was planning on Sarge for transportation to and from the airport as well as to the PIR. I'm kind of hoping his family will at least sit with me and maybe invite me to come along with them since they are renting a car. But I'll have money just in case. I was thinking maybe they were just stressed they are tight on money and to fly the whole family out would be a lot. I've been working a lot too to save up because I don't want to have to ask my family for money so close to Christmas but it will use up a good amount of money but it's worth it to see my SR's special day. He said he wants me there so I'll be there, even if they don't. But if things get tense for any reason I'll let them have their time and if my SR wants to meet up for a bit before heading back I'll take that. I'm also hoping they will invite me with them to see him at the airport on Saturday but I'm not getting my hopes up. They just make it so difficult to talk to them or plan things. I'm just happy I was able to stay at the Lodge.
