Wikipedia has a nice page on Navy Boot Camp, Here is the link, in case you would like to see week by week what our recruits are doing. Of course, we are a little off on the timing, because of being short one week, but you can get the idea.

My sailor also said they don't have a Hell week unless they are special ops. She said some of the SR's call it that because it is "One hell of a week" lol...... For all you moms who have not heard your kids swear or "cuss" as we call it in the south, be prepared, especially if they are a girl. You will definitely know where the term "cuss like a sailor" came from. Luckily, my sailor girl has only slipped around me a couple of times. :-}

Oh, I'm sorry, I wasn't trying to step on toes, either, Anti M. I did see on RTC FB page a few weeks ago, that someone had posted something on BS also.

I will continue to keep praying for our recruits to continue their success at every step of their training.

I agree, just trying to give a head's up as the time gets closer. I will try to find the official notice, it was posted elsewhere. Not trying to step on toes!

I didn't get to do Battle Stations. Oh, we had a wooden mock up ship in Orlando, and we stood battle stations and used the headphone radios and did a few drills, but the exercise today is state of the art. I am impressed, and wish I'd gotten to try it out. Very exciting. Oh, and they do the same thing in the fleet now and then. They seal the ship up and run drills for 24 hours. Hubby says it isn't as much fun as it sounds, LOL.

I just copied and pasted this from Recruit Training Command page, so I think we are safe in what we have said on here.

"Now at the end of the sixth week of training you will put your skills to the test. Completion of Battle Stations will earn you the respect of your peers. You will become a Sailor in the United States Navy. Your family will see you march at graduation. Your life is about to change, if you can just pass this final hurdle.

Battlestations

Throughout boot camp you will be given multiple instructions, tasks to complete, and numerous obstacles to overcome. Battle Stations is your final hurdle. It will test your physical fitness, knowledge of Naval history, commitment to the team and the ability to apply everything you have learned in boot camp. In order to complete Battle Stations and become a Sailor, you will have to demonstrate your understanding of our Navy Core Values: Honor, Courage and Commitment. Are you ready?

AntiM: That is what is funny. The Navy Times link that I posted above has the times(approximate) in it. We have always been told that if the Navy prints it, we can too. Strange. I don't even know exact times...just approximate. I think this whole thing was a FB issue that got blown out of proportion on this site, but I too am honoring the "no exact times" message.
Comment by Anti M on November 23, 2010 at 4:47pm
Another way to start practicing security, as BS begin, it is okay to post the day or date, but not the specific times. I can't explain precisely why, but I've read it and hey, the Navy says that is what it wants. I saw a new mom post the times all over the Great Lakes A school group and no one said anything, had I not been behind time-wise, I would have gently reminded her. I know they are training the new sailors to have that mindset now, so it can't hurt to help out. That's what PMs (private messages) are for.

LOL, I don't recall a Hell Week, that's what the SEALs do. I am sure we had a busy week, and we had Work Week, which they no longer do. That week we had to work in the galley, offices, or anywhere strong young hands were needed. I served in the Staff Chow Hall, until I was pulled to paint the company flag. I had it easy!

Can somebody please post the link for ordering division shirts/sweatshirts in the links discussion above? And do you know if they have to be ordered prior to PIR of if they available for a while after?
Thanks
Wendi

I have already visited the link and read about Battlestations. It was hell week that I really didn't know about. I was right in my thinking though. I just told my girlfriend I thought it was where they were just stretched to the limit on everything they learned, etc. Yeah, me! I have learned a little I guess. What do you know - you can teach an old dog new tricks! LOL
Lala Ribbon Queen, did you get my message? I would love to have a ribbon for my recruit.
