No, Hell week is not the same as battle stations. And there are no such things as stupid questions :-) Hell week is just what the recruits call it because they have a lot of tests that week, both physical and mental (written). Battle Stations is the final test before PIR. They get to use and show everything they have learned at boot camp.

Dianne, thank you. I guess that great minds must think alike. lol I posted about the same time as you. :)

TysMom, the way that I understand it is that, during Hell Week the recruits will wake up earlier, have more inspections and more training.

Battle Stations is at the end of boot camp, I think the week before PIR. It's the culminating event of Navy Boot Camp. It's designed to wrap everything you've learned about swimming survival, teamwork, fire-fighting, damage control, and more into one massive 12 hour hands-on exercise. When you participate in the ceremony at the end of the exercise, and receive your hat, you'll know that you've become a sailor.

No, TysMom. Hell Week is about the 4th week and it is named that because of all they have to do that week, and they are awakened much earlier each day.
BattleStations is their final test....they must pass everything else before they participate. It is held within the last week before PIR...by divisions.

Remember, no question on here is stupid! I knew nothing at all when my son went through back Dec-Feb. I have learned alot by being on here since then. So ask anything you like!

If you look in the discussions above, you will find one that is labeled "BattleStations." Click on that one. At the top of the page, I posted a link in the Navy Times that will explain BattleStaitons to you.

Is Hell Week the same thing as Battlestations? (I hate to ask a stupid question, but I haven't spoken to my sailor other than a short few minutes and didn't get the chance to talk about anything but travel arrangements).

Thanks Betsy!

For those of you who may have not done so, you may want to join your recruits' A school group. There is a lot of good information on those. Just search the groups on Navyformoms and I'm sure you will find one. With the holidays coming up fast, I'm sure the time will start to fly by, so it's a good idea to join now.

Forum is kinda quiet this week, so I'm guessing everyone has their travel arrangements made by now. Please remember our recruits this week, as it is a difficult one for them.

PIR is really starting to get close now. :-) Have you made reservations? If you can get there in time please go to the meet and greet. You will be glad you did. Don't forget to order your ribbons for PIR if you are planning to order. I have finished all the ribbons for those in this group who have ordered and they will be mailed in about a week. I usually wait until there is 2-3 weeks before PIR just in case there are any changes to be made. When you place your order let me know what day you are leaving so I make sure you get your ribbons in plenty of time. Thanks, I hope you all have a GREAT Thanksgiving :-)
