I corrected the post, because they just want them to be at A school, at least the day before they need to report.

Ladies,

On A's Christmas Leave form, it says that Leave Dates for Christmas are from Friday, Dec. 17, 12:00 until Tuesday, December 28 at 07:00. They are told to purchase a return ticket to A school on by Monday, December. 27, at the latest.

I will post this in the Holiday Leave Discussion as well.

I think they just don't want our kids to arrive later than the 27th, Nancy. They just want them to be there at least one day ahead, I'm pretty sure. We booked A to fly in late on the 26th. He doesn't have to report until the 28th.

Betsy, just now reading your posts!! SO excited for you!! YEAH a phone call and a letter!! So they don't want them to return earlier than the one day huh? So I need to plan my kid's return accordingly...like Jan 3rd. Good to know. But what about weather related delays? Could be a problem traveling across the country. hmmm...

Hmmm, I haven't heard yet. I would call the Public Affairs Office, (847-668-2405) maybe they will know. Although I have a feeling, it may be determined on what their orders say as when they need to report to their A school.

I am really happy, because not only did I get a quick phone call, but I also got a letter and also a separate envelope with a copy of his request for Christmas leave. :)

They pulled some of A's teeth last week, he doesn't have his wisdom teeth anymore, so I don't know which one's they pulled. But he was on SIQ (sick in quarter for 2 days and now is on Light Limited Duty. He says he feels fine now.
He says that he loves us all and that this is the hardest thing he has ever had to do, not physically, but emotionally, because of being away from us, I guess. He said he has made some good friends and wants me to send him a small black address book that will fit in an envelope, so he can get addresses and phone numbers from his new friends. His division was flagged last week.

Hey Lynne - personally I have no problem hearing about my son getting IT or having to cleaning for hours or marching all day... :) It is about time he works hard for his money. lol I do feel somewhat bad about the yelling though. He hates yelling.

Thank you AntiM, I appreciate the info. I know she is enjoying it so much. What happens in the gas chamber?

IT and PT are what they get when something is done incorrectly or when the division needs motivation. For us as parents and loved ones it is difficult to hear but every single one of the recruits and divisions experience it. You just kind of have to toughen up and keep encouraging them and let them know it won't last forever. It is really part of the Navy's plan to insure that even under the greatest amount of stress the sailors will be able to do what they need to do without thinking...that they will just react accordingly. It was still hard for me as a mom to hear about those 2 hour "beatings" or the long periods of cleaning they had to do. However it is for their own good, at least that is what I kept telling myself..lol!

Karen K, the leadership positions in BC, such as "whatever" PO, is during boot camp only. They have a laundry PO, a mail PO, a yeoman, a Recruit CPO, section leaders, and so on. This is not an advancement, while they do real job as assigned, the "PO" is simply a title to clarify their position of authority within the division. Their paygrade and true title remains SR, E-1.

It is only a big deal in boot camp. I was the EPO, the Education Petty Officer. It is extremely good practice for leading in A school. However, it means little else later on.
