Thanks, Anti M. I had never seen that on the board since I've been on. The ones I was aware of always had a BattleStations group available to go through before their PIR date....whether it was another division's from their PIR or actually the 1st night of the next PIR's BattleStations. So once they passed that run, swim, etc, they all passed BattleStations and were at their own PIR (albeit some of them who did it the night before were in the balcony, too tired to march!). So does that mean if they DO pass this run/swim, etc and there is not a BattleStations for them to go through before their own PIR, are you thinking that they are still allowed to attend their PIR in uniform, but sit in the balcony? And then conclude their BattleStations with the next group?

Sharon T - ((HUGS)) I hope you get a letter soon! I'm glad you at least got some good information from your SR's dad. Congratulations on him getting a flag - that's awesome!

I just spoke with SATO at Great Lakes; I learned that the 12/17 SR's will be given their official orders for A school on 12/14. The previous comment about being able to leave the 17th or 18th, I've deleted. I do believe those going directly to A vs. taking leave to go home for the holidays are the 12/18 departures the SATO spoke of. So scratch that comment! Last, ground transportation from the airport - I was told to contact the Quarter Deck at your SR's A school base - very possibly, there is a Duty Driver available to transport your Sailor from the airport to their base. SATO also told me the likely reimbursement amount will be $180.00 for air travel. That is the amount it would cost for them to fly from Chicago to their destination.

Illinibeam - Grad and Go just means that right after PIR they can leave. They don't have to stay for the weekend to wait for processing to leave. My son is taking leave and he said he is Grad & Go.

Sharon - Thats good he has had someone to call for advise. I'm like you - I don't care who he calls as long as they tell me what going on! I do hope you get to hear his voice soon though. Susan

I haven't gotten a call, or a letter, although my ex, the former Navy guy, has. Apparently my sailor has been needing advice, and fortunately his dad was able to do so. Through him, I learned that my sailor's division got a flag last week, which is good, and has gotten IT twice, which is bad. But, he's doing pretty well, all things considered. I'll take it. My ex told me that should he call him again, he will tell my sailor to write me so that I stop having a complex.

Illinibeam - It would probably be everyone not taking leave that is going to any A school, not just A school in Pensacola. Susan

Lori - D said he is grad and go so he can leave right after PIR. Wouldn't they all be grad and go? I think you could be right that the 12/18 date is for those not taking leave. Susan

diannep, I have heard of them doing BS with their division, yet still trying to pass the run or the swim tests at the last moment. They just don't get to say "I'm a sailor" like their shipmates do. More often than not, that last minute push gets them through. If anyone has failed it at the last minute, the mom/SO hasn't come back to say so.

Lala, I'm laughing at the thought of snow boarding in NC. I live in Utah and there's an Olympic class mountain in front of my picture window. LOL, us Westerners and our mountain snobbery, huh? My hubby is from WV and we joke about my young Rockies and his stubby Appalachians. LOL, his "experienced" mountains. And I don't even ski...

Betsy - You didn't get a call? I'm so sorry! I am soooo excited there is only a month left :) Wow, the time has flown by! Susan

Wendi- my sailor snowboards as well. She was actually an instructor here at a resort in NC before she joined the Navy. It was great for her as a part time job because she got to board for free on her days off at any resort in our region. :-)
