lllinibeam, I'm so sorry that he won't be there for your birthday and christmas. ((hugs)) Since it's only 4 hours away, maybe you could always do some weekend trips?

Betsy - I have a friend from high school who is a consultant for that. Let me know. I have looked at that warmer and considered purchasing in the past. Just hadn't gotten around to it. Susan

Lori, did you post the link somewhere for the Sensty candles? On the website that I found, you need a consultant to buy them.

The lighting of a blue candle is a tradition stemming from several different stories. The candle is lit for sailors separated from their families during the holidays, for sailors in danger far away, or to light a sailor’s way home. It’s also popularly used as a way to mark the time recruits complete the most arduous part of their training–in a sense, to bring them “home” to complete boot camp and become sailors. As we prepare for supporting our SR's during BattleStations as well as reuniting with our loved ones at PIR, I thought I'd share with you a really neat alternative to a blue candle - its made by Sentsy - copy the following address to your browser; when the Sentsy page appears, go to "buy" and scroll down to the bottom of screen and type :Navy" into the search window - its an electronic burner with the Navy Seal on the outside. I've ordered "blue linen" scent to heat rather than burning a candle. You can order it from this page and have it shipped to your home (an added $5.00 for shipping).

Just an idea I thought worth sharing.

Thank you, Lori. That puts it all in perspective for me.

Dianne - Yes! And the grandparents will all be in town. We will all march. I'll tell my girls for every lap around the block, they get 1 gift. LOL Susan

I saw this post by one of the N4M's on the 12/22 PIR page and thought I would repost here; it really gave me alot to think about - I hope you find it as meaningful as I did:

Boot camp must build the recruits up but first must break them down and retrain their way of thinking and habits. It is an extremely difficult task, not only for the recruits and family but for the drill team instructors. They are there to prepare our children and loved ones into US Navy Sailors who will represent and defend our country, to save the lives of others, and most importantly to save thier own lives. So as cheer leaders, it is our job to encourage our loved ones and we can only do this by writing letters, everyday with positive and encouraging and funny informaton. Our recruits, our drill team leaders and our country need us to help them form the greatest US Navy Sailors in the world.

Is is hard not to worry and not to cry, not to wish you could pull your loved one out and bring them home, yes, it is hard to still encourage, and yes we will continue to worry, we will continue to be sad and just plain angry. But we have to remember, the greatest cause and that is, Boot camp is only 8 weeks long and millions of men and women before our loved ones made it and became heros and people of honor, committment and courage, we owe it to our loved ones to stay encouraging and uplifting.Remember, this is their dream and we must support their decision. I do not say all of this lighly, because my only son is in boot camp now. After I read his letters yesterday, I went through a melt down and then motherhood kicked in and the encouragement started flowing
