Susan, YAY for the 4.0! That's great. It sounds like he is in a great division.

D did say that he has passed all of the inspections with perfect scores. I was trying to understand what he was saying, but it sounded like his division had gotten a 4.0 on something??? And they were going to get a flag??? Any of you ladies know what he meant? That darn static drove me crazy!!!!

I received my call yesterday! The line had so much static that out of a 22 minutes phone call, I probably heard about 7 minutes of it :( I didn't want to keep asking him to repeat himself so I know he told me things and I have no idea what they were! He said he is happy with his decision over all. He is ready for BC to be over, pretty normal. He doesn't like the food, but said it's not as bad as college food, lol. That's his guide on how he judges food after his year away at college, lol. He said he has not been sick at all, YAY! I have been concerned about that. He said they got their dress whites, blues and something else (again the static). Or after reading posts from yesterday, maybe he said they got fitted for those. He said he is making friends and that his bunkmates Mom is also a N4M. His bunkmate is from L.A., CA, so let me know if this may be your son :) Still no mail, even though he said he has mailed us a lot. I am hoping it comes on Monday! Susan

Yes, I asked about cards too, because I have a friend whose children wanted to send Hanukkah cards and was told that they have to have a name on them. Btw, if anyone does know the names of any Jewish recruits, my friend would still like to send those. I haven't received any names at all. :(

Thanks, Anti M. That is what I figured too. So it would mean that a recruit would have to let his mom/wife/gf know all of the names for the recruits in his/her division so the letters could be written individually. Quite a responsibility to get all of those names! But hopefully doable because I think a letter from the young school kids would put such a smile on the recruits' faces!
Comment by Anti M on November 14, 2010 at 8:42am
The letters must have a specific sailor's name on them for security reasons. The Any Sailor/Any Soldier programs had to make this change also.

H also told me 8 hoiurs of sleep each night.

I was telling my sister about writing to others and she said she would have the students in the classes she works in write. We were wondering if we could have kids write to the ship and division in general and send a big manilla envelope. Then she mentioned that we could make business card sized cards and send a few at a time in H's letters.

My son said this about the food, "it's good, unless it's really bad". You just have to love your child don't you.

CJ's mom, that's awesome news for you.

Wendi, that's awesome about writing letters to other recruits.
Comment by diannep on November 13, 2010 at 9:48pm
Wendi: When you get the names from your daughter, can you post on here that you have them and let people private message you for the names if they would like to write to some of them? I still stay in touch with one that I wrote to about 2 months ago. It is truly a pleasure to be able to write to them!
