No phone call today. I was hoping to get one. I don't want to wait all the way to Thanksgiving. I did send a letter and a card but missed to mail run so it won't go out until Mon. I can send more by that time. H said that she was so happy when she got a bunch of mail that she cried before she even opened them . She said some of the girls were mad because they didn't get any and she had so much. I asked her in my letter today to give me names and info for any girls who are not getting any mail.

Almost every chow hall provides at least two choices of entrees, often more. They are stricter with portion control than they used to be, for health, but they do take pride in what they serve. On Diego Garcia, which is an island, we had a few Navy cooks and a lot of civilians from the Philippines. Once a month we got steak and lobster, one a month we got a Filipino feast, and holiday meals were huge. Whatever they served, there was also a fish and a chicken option too. They had to feed us well, we didn't have many other choices. Milk was the only big problem, we never got fresh being so far from anywhere.

(google Diego Garcia to see where I served my isolated duty)

I recieved a call from CJ!! Oh my gosh what a difference five days made. He was upbeat, strong in his voice - never even quivered. He was excited about up coming events. He mentioned he has made some new friends in his division. They moved him to division 022. It is a push division he said so they only train for 6 weeks. Anyway he and I had a great conversation and I think he is happier than he has been since leaving home.

Not me. My daughter and I were texting at the time, so it went right to my voicemail. :( He says he will call back on Tues. though. Woohoo!

Any phone calls today ladies? Congratulations Stacey on your first letter - catfish sounds like a fun meal - like home to our southern SR's and a new taste treat for others!

Some of the recruits don't like the food. Mine LOVED the food...said it was pretty good when he was there. They are fed well! Maybe your recruits will come away from bc learning to like some NEW foods???

Stacey: I left a comment on your page about the mail since your son is his division's Mail PO.

Really cool video about BC. I borrowed this from our sister PIR, 12/22 group. Everyone should watch it.

For those of you with recruits who usually wear contact lenses, someone asked on the RTC Facebook page if they are allowed to wear contact lenses for PIR. They ARE allowed to have them for graduation. I then asked them how we are supposed to get them to them, and they said we could mail them (with solution) to the recruits at BC. Just thought some of you would like to know that.

Wendi, awesome that she likes the food.
