Wendi, if you mean RTC (boot camp base), no...she can't take any of those things back to base with her. I would say that you can meet her at the airport and give them to her, but if you are leaving about the same time out of Milwaukee...that won't work. If your flight is later in the day, you may consider driving to Ohare (or Midway, whichever one she is leaving from)...because you can get a military family gate pass and wait with her for her flight. You can give her the cell and ipod then.

If my daughter has to go back to base 12/17 night and is taking a flight out of Chicago and we are flying out of Milwaukee, can she take her Ipod and phone with her back to base? She said something about a shuttle to airport so we may not see her 12/18 until we all meet up again in Sac.

When in doubt, buy it in black!

NEX gift cards, although those are rather unexciting. You have to know the rules for their school, so it will be tough for this group as they won't have checked in yet and learned what they can or cannot have!

A watch, but it has to be within uniform regs.
Plain black backpack for their laptop.
Good headphones for whatever they play music on when they're relaxing in their room.
If they have a laptop, an external hard drive to store their data.
A nice throw or quilt, although they might have to stow it when not in use.
If they will be in Great Lakes: silk long johns, lightweight for under their uniform. Underarmor is good too, I hear.
Religious medal, small.
Laser engraved dog tags with a picture (good for GF/BF)
Picture pillow, small.
Travel mug, travel or camping set of utensils and a dish.
Black socks, warm ones.
Nice plain black leather wallet.
Good travel toiletry kit or roll up.
Digital camera.
Good lock for their locker, theft is rampant (sadly)

Also, Anti M....any suggestions on what to get our sailors for Christmas...due to limited storage, etc? I figure that with all of the experience you have had with Navy personnel, you probably have some great ideas????? I'm looking! The limited space issue causes some problems for all of us. Mine is stationed, but I still have no clue.
