LoLo or N4M Susan: Why don't one of you call the PAO (Public Affairs Office) for this group and ask your questions about leave? Better to have one call and then report all of the info on this site for the others to see. We don't want to flood the PAO with calls on the same thing. The number is: 847-688-2405

Ok, thanks. If you want too, you can put me on the account too.

Betsy - Nancy sent me a message telling me how to do it. I will need to create a account. I will work on it tonight at home and will add that song. That's a perfect addition to our playlist :)

I haven't either, Dana. As Lori said, I don't expect we will get anything from them before next week. But, keep writing to them every day. They will hopefully be able to get our letters soon.

Who can add "I'll Be Home for Christmas" to our playlist? Kathy?
Comment by Lori_KingsBay_USSRI_Radio on November 4, 2010 at 11:28am
I have not; it sounds like, from earlier posts, the SR's do not get to write for the first couple of weeks. So hang tight; letters should start arriving week 3 I expect.

has anyone gotten a letter from their recruit? I am not talking about the form letter but an actual letter?
Comment by Lori_KingsBay_USSRI_Radio on November 4, 2010 at 10:53am
JessicaB - can you help our group better appreciate when leave will begin. I think this is wonderful news but we likely need to wait until something official from our SR is shared; meaning, we want to maintain our weekend plans in Great Lakes, hold on making any travel modifications, etc. If travel home is an option, is it expected the SR's will coordinate their own travel with family members (do they have access in BC to make travel arrangements or will they communicate with family members to gain their assistance). I'm sure many of our group N4M's will be anxious to get appropriate travel arrangments in place, especially because it is the holidays - airline booking as far in advance as possible is ideal. I don't think we can assume our SR's (then Sailors) can leave right after graduation; I'm sure there is a processing step for official leave and departing the base for home.

This is amazing news!! I have been reading through everything this morning and you all have brought up a lot of good questions I will ask D in the letter I write today.

Such as: When can we leave Great Lakes? Can we leave right after graduation, or do we wait until Sunday? Can you just ride back home with us, or do you have to fly? Should you fly to Pensacola or should we drive you (We live in NC so FL isn't very far away) If you have to report Dec 28, is that in the morning so we really need to have you there Dec 27?

If you think of any other questions we need to ask our SR's then post them. Maybe between all of us we will get the same answers :)

I hope everyone has a great day :))))) Susan

If they are able to go home right after graduation then they can fly home with us from Great Lakes? That means I may be leaving from there a day earlier to save on the hotel cost and help pay for the airline ticket. Oh, I needed this and I am so happy for all of us. Have a blessed day. K
