My son is currently on the "other side" of the base...the side for schools. He is currently on a medical hold waiting to see if he heals in time to class up with the next group of guys for his rate. Considering all that he has been through he is doing very well. He has an extremely positive attitude, which I thank the Navy for, and is taking everything in stride. BC was difficult for him because he was in the Special Ops division and they were worked very hard. We only had three calls from him the whole time. But I learned so many things and I'm more than happy to share. Just ask. I noticed a few other Moms on here that were in our group too. We had a wild group of Moms, Dads, and girlfriends. His best friend joined because he saw how focused my son was on his future. He was looking for some direction in his life and was not getting it.

Hi, 2NavyKids, That is so nice of you to help us along. How is your son doing now? His best friend is so lucky to have you supporting him as well.

2NavyKids - thanks for joining to lend us your support and wisdom! How nice of you to joing and support your son's BF's N4M. The more the merrier. Us newbies really benefit for the supportive posts of more senior N4M's with experience. Even though I'm only 1 week into my SR's BC, I feel better than 1 week previous to today - its heartwarming to me to be able to lend encouragement to N4M's who are where I was then.

All, I wanted to join this group because my son's best friend is in the PIR group. My son graduated from BC on 09/10/10. I hope that you are all doing well and don't worry....all of the heartache and sadness that you are feeling right now will disappear when you see your recruit graduate.

Mary - I think your SR is one lucky man and so is that little boy of his/yours. Thanks for the uplifting story of love and committment. Lori

Betsy, That was so nice what you wrote in your son's Psalm Book. What a comfort that will be for him. I wish I had thought to do that. Hugs. K

Heidi's mom, I am praying that everything goes well for your daughter. Think good thoughts. Hugs. K

LoLo and Susan, thank you for all the good info. I can always count on you. Hugs. K

Phoebe, you are right on target. We need to support them as much as we can and let them know they can do it. Being positive right now is the best support we can give them. Bless our Seaman Recruits. Hugs. K

Stacey, I am still looking for a place to stay. I have just been so busy lately but I will get to it today or tomorrow. I am still trying to decide if I will go to midway or milwaukee airport. Decisions Decisions. Hugs K

Oh Mary, what a wonderful story. I can truly see how much you do love your husband. That little boy is such a lucky little guy to have both of you. ((hugs))

I try to stay positive.. tho even thru my positive statements and encouragement to all I find it hard. I can't say that I don't cry everynight cause that would be a lie.. but I have to keep a strong head and heart cause after all I am married to him and we signed up for this together..

My husband wanted to join but because he has split custody of his son he was unable to at first.. the recruiter told us sitting in his office that in order for him to join he had to give full custody to the mother or we had to get married. I know how much that little guy means to my love and I knew that I wanted to marry this man ( just not so soon.. we had been together 2 years at that time ) but I had to put my feelings to the side about being afraid of marrying him.. and I looked right at him in that office and said.. " Looks like we are going to the court house tomorrow". There was no second thought in my mind at that time and I don't regret it either. We have had 2 wonderful years together and will continue to have many wonderful years to come. I love my husband with all my heart and I know how much family means to him.. I knew he would NEVER of gave up his 1/2 custody of his son after fighting so hard for it. He wanted to be a part of the Navy for sooo long.. wanted to serve his country and provide more for his family. I truely am blessed to have a wonderful husband...

Just wanted to share!

Lori, I have been walking to lose some weight before PIR. Why do I have a feeling after hearing about those cookies, it will all be in vane? lol

Dianne, thanks I'll check that one out too. I also have found Priceline to be pretty good too. I rented a car in San Diego once for $11 a day through them.
