My ((hugs)) and prayers go out to all those moms whose recruits are having some challenges right now. I will keep your children in my prayers. When my son left for BC, I gave him a small book of Psalms. On the inside cover of the book, I wrote the words:

Throughout your life, your dad and I were there to comfort, take care of and protect you. We are no longer there to do that. But, please never forget that God is.

So, even if we are not there for them, they are always being comforted and protected.

Stacey, some of us are staying at the Residence Inn, in Waukegan. They have suites and they are pretty reasonable.

Has anyone made Hotel reservations yet? if so where? I am trying to shop the biggest room for the best rate.

I hope they let them have their letters soon. Heidi needs them now. I hope today is better for her. Less than 44 to go.

That's funny. In my last letter to S I was so encouraging and told him how in a flash it would be all over. Tough it out and it will be done. We need to be strong and reflect that in the letters we write. And remember to add a prayer or two over the letters before you send them off! Have a wonderful day all you grand ladies.

Something you all may want to do is write an extra letter of encouragemnet and put it in with your next letter to your SR. Tell him or her to give it to a friend who is not getting any letters. Sadly there are some who won't get letter and some who won't have anyone come to PIR.

When you start getting letters and your SR seems to be down or homesick or even says he/she hates it try to remember it was probably written several days earlier and those feelings may have passes already.. keep sending encouraging letters. Tell them they are strong and can do anything for 8 weeks. And keep reminding them how they don't have much longer to go. :-)

Good Morning to my fellow 12/17 PIR Moms, Step Moms, Wives, Girlfriends, and Fiances! I see many more have received their box; while it tugs at your hearts strings it feels good to get something tangible from your SR doesn't it! I called mine "My Box in a Box." Its a point in our waiting cycle that helps us look forward! The Form Letters will come next. Don't run over the mailman trying to get to your mailbox! Write your SR's LOTS. Heidi's example is a good case in realizing how important your encouraging words from home are - you never know, that letter you send, might just give your SR the umph they need to pick themselves up off the floor if they are feeling low ; or if they are hurt or sick, just the bit of encouragement they need to be patient with themselves and know they will mend or get healthy and be able to get back in their game soon. Thanks to each of you for your prayers for our SRs - they are powerful. Have a GREAT day everyone!

Heidi'sMom: I may be wrong, but I don't think they will let her come home just because she wants to? When my son was there, he said many were asking to go home in the beginning...there was actually a line! And although some are dismissed for various things, as long as what they have wrong with them is "fixable", I believe they will stay. One guy was in RCU for 6 months, but he is now a sailor

So let's just pray that she regains the desire to want to be there...and she will have lots of encouragement towards that goal, much of it from other recruits with her, I bet. I was praying this morning for all of the recruits who are struggling right now...and will continue to. Chin up, everyone! They are tougher than we think!

Ladies, I was just reading back through the posts from last night. It is so hard to read of the injuries and illnesses. After all, we are the MOMS and used to being there to help them through these things...now we are lucky if we even KNOW about them until after the fact....it is scary for the recruits....because they want MOM during these times, of course!
However, having said that, they get through this time and prove something to themselves. That they CAN do this...not only accomplish success in bc, but they can get through their illnesses and injuries, and they are ok. It is a "growing up" lesson for them. Hard for us, though...because that is one less thing they need us for. But we all knew when we had our babies, that they were gifts from God and our jobs were to love them and help them grow up into fine young men and women. And that, ladies, is what you have done! Because they have been accepted as recruits into the United States Navy.

So, when you feel down and sad...stand tall and proud...because if it weren't for you and the lifetime of love and support you have given them, they wouldn't be there...So HERE'S TO ALL OF THE NAVY MOMS! HOOYAH!
