Betsy Besty!!!! I'm so excited that you received a letter :-) It brought tears to my eyes. Your PIR is 12/17??? That's wonderful. I am hoping for this date too rather that 12/10 - congratulations :-)

diannep, yes I take 2 of the dogs for walks pretty much every day. My Lucy is 8 and wants nothing to do with walks now. lol She actually runs and hides when she sees the lease now. One of our collies is a rescue too, she is the sweetest dog we have ever had. I will be posting pictures of 2 of them on my page, but I know they have to approve it, so it might be on there by Monday.
I love labs, they are such big lap dogs. lol It is so great to have that down time with the dogs, I do a lot of thinking on my walks.

Marynavywife, Happy Halloween to you too. I can't tell you how much I admire your spirit and support for your husband. You are truly what a navy wife should be. I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Hugs. K

Happy Halloween to those who might be out with young ones tonight.. be safe. Going to take my step-son trick-r-treating tonight and try not to let myself get sad. Halloween is our anniversary and I know that he might not be here to celebrate it with me but I know I am in his heart and his thoughts for he is in mine... can't wait til I get my letter.

Ok, Betsy...now I KNOW you and I are on the "same page!" Ha! Do you take long walks with your dogs like I do??? Usually 3 times a day for me...starting at 6 a.m. (fast walks....1.5 mile in the morning, a little less than a mile for each of the others....only one "pee pee" stop allowed! HA!). I call it my "dog walk/prayer time" because it is when I lift up the recruits and any recruit personal issues I know are going on....I have 2 rescues...a Lab and a Rotty/Dobey/"something else" mix....both now 7 yrs old. Love my babies....and yep...lots of chatter going on in our house too! HA!

And, yes I agree, KLM is the best. We love her!

Who would have thought that being a Navy mom would be a full time job? Between the letter writing, updating family, checking in on here, waiting for word or boxes, planning trip to PIR and worrying about our recruit, it really is. I love every minute of it!

You are so welcome, KLM, but I just love doing this...as does Jessica...and some other wonderful veterans who will "drop in" from time to time. Mine PIRed last Feb, but I still remember those "raw" feelings when they left and for the first few weeks. Please, everyone...when you are having a down or sad moment, please vent on here because there is so much support here. I didn't make good use of this site when my son went through (didn't know about it until he was already started...found it by accident since he never brought me info on it...erghhhh.....he lived out of town and recruiter was there--still no excuse, I say!!! :-) ). This truly is a lifeline site....it helps alot.

I will be praying for each of your recruits!

I'm getting off here for now...but will check back later tonight. Please feel free to "friend me" (my page is private for security) and let me know how I can help any of you, or post and I will check back....

Good luck, ladies...and they will do JUST FINE! HOOYAH!

diannep, I am almost an empty nest. My oldest boy is moving to Boston a couple of weeks before Christmas, my husband is working on the other side of the country while I stay back selling our house, my 2 daughters are 45 minutes away at college and my oldest is married and living across the country too. We have 3 collies and they are my best friends right now.
I have been known to talk to myself a lot more now. Lol
