This is what we woke up to this morning here in Western NC, 6 inches of snow. We rarely ever see snow before January. Our average snowfall for one season is 6 inches for the whole winter. Last winter we had 42 inches in Brevard and it looks like this year is going to be the same. Please travel safely to PIR.

lukesgirl - There is a class that they all have to take that lasts about a month. I think it's a general I'm in the Navy now class, lol. So they learn all the rules of A school and things like that. Then I think they just have duty every few days and that about it. It can get frustrating for them because they are ready to start classes and get out of there.  I heard a lot of them spend a lot of time at the mall, lol.  Susan

Thanks Susan! I joined that group, and they have a lot of helpful information on it! :) so what do they do while they wait for school to start?

Lukesgirl - My son is IT and he will be going to Pensacola. Also, Corry Station is about 2 miles from Pensacola and some schools are located there. My son will actually be at Corry Station but most just say Pensacola since C.S. is a smaller school close by. Did that make sense, lol? Anyway from what I understand IT school is getting ready to be made into a 6 month school. There is also a wait to start school. Some wait a couple of weeks and for some it can be longer. I recommend joining the Pensacola group if this is where your bf is going.  Susan

N4M Susan, that is awesome. I will ask her if I can send them to you and she can get them at the meet and Greet. I just don't think they would make it to TX in time and I am sure if I sent them to you tomorrow morning you would have them on Tuesday. I will let you know. Thanks so much.

Does anyone know the different jobs offered in Pensicola? Luke said something about there being 3 different jobs, each a different number of weeks long, if I remember correctly, one is 72 days, ones 90 days, and one is 6 months. I could be wrong, we talked about them at Thanksgiving. If anyone knows, could you let me know?

Lynne, thanks for all your help.  I don't know what we would do without you.  Will do on the parking passes.  Great idea, thanks!  I was wondering what was with the middle lane.  Thanks for the tip!

wow congrats to all who got calls...and i guess we can gather there were no bs last night...however I bet dianne will have that schedule all whipped into shape by monday...she is the bs guru...

Okay down to the count ladies...woo hoo..this week is going to fly by...so put on your seat belt...make sure your tray table is in the upright and locked position...and it is all systems go

Betsy...i have special instructions for you as the leader of this motley group...lol...please print our extra parking passes and take them with you to the meet and greet ...I passed out 8 at ours for non navy for mom folks who didn't read the form letter carefully enough.

If you have small children..please remember that while they do not need a ticket...they do need either their birth certificate or social security card.  For kids over the age of 12...they need a picture ID...you can get these at the court house...if you try to use a school ID for those between 12 and 14...make sure you also have either their birth certificate or social security card with you.

If you are driving to PIR...when you turn on the road towards the RTC you will see a very long line in the right hand land...ignore that...stay in the middle lane...because about 3 to 5 miles ahead...that right lane ends and everyone is trying to merge into guess what the middle lane...so you will just zip ahead of the pack and save yourself a long time by staying in the middle lane.  Please put your parking pass in the front window and have your proof of insurance and registration ready to show at the gate.  The parking sailors will just keep passing your through till you get to a parking space.  If the handicap spaces are taken, don't worry...when you get to the final parking sailor...tell them you need extra space and he/she will allow you to park in 2 spaces.  I hope this information helps.

Oh, that's awesome! its too bad she knows he's coming, we surprised my cousin with her bf at grad. From the army..he told her he couldn't make it, and then he hid in the bleechers and then after the ceremony we were all hugging her and I said, what's that? and she turned around and he picked her up in a big hug.
Where will she be going after grad. for school?
