Tysmom, that is awesome about your letter.

Anti M, thanks for the info about BS. I would assume that in order to get them completed in time, they would have to start this coming Sunday. There are 8 divisions and if they buddy up, they need at least 4 nights, plus Thursday, during the day, for the last two divisions to sleep. So, in my mind, Sun would be the first night.

Ty's mom & Wendi, I'm going to write until this coming Saturday. It's been taking about 4 days for my letters to get to A, so should get the last one on Thursday, by my calculations.

I know you can order them at the NEX while you are there if your sailor didn't order them but to get the Keel for free I think they have to be ordered before PIR day. I just am not sure but if you call the NEX they can tell you.

Question: When should we stop sending letters to our recruits?
Comment by TysMomKY on December 7, 2010 at 9:38am
Betsy and CJ's Mom, I'm always happy to entertain! LOL What can I say, I am just trying to make sure all my bases (and then some) are covered!
I couldn't sleep at all last night. I'm sure I will be this way until December 16th (the day I leave for graduation)! I was so disappointed over the weekend not hearing from my SR and then yesterday had a letter from him! It was absolutely the best letter ever and he is great! One line reads "by the time you read this it will be inside of 10 days til I graduate". I'm soooooooo happy for all our recruits and so proud of them!

Lynne is right... if your recruit is bending the rules somehow, don't tell the world! That's the key to sliding by in the Navy on some things. Also, if a recruit is caught breaking a rule, the entire division can be punished.

As for BS, it can be like pulling teeth to get solid information. The dates show up online, but the times are somewhat guarded. Practicing for future OPSEC, holding back specific information much like they would with ship's movement I've been told. Perhaps your recruits are following orders and not being forthcoming, or maybe they don't know yet. I'm betting don't know, they don't get told much of anything up front.
