Question of the Day - What the heck week are SRs in right now? My son left Nov. 16 for GL, boot camp is 8 weeks, and PIR is 1/21/11....so our SRs will be in GL for about a total of 9 1/2 weeks. In a letter to my son I cheered him on about finishing week 2, but now I think that maybe they just started week 2 on Monday.

Someone in this group asked me to post the ribbon info so here it is. The ribbons are all hand made by me. I charge $5.00 each & shipping and that just covers materials and expenses. It is my way of paying it forward on this site. :-) They are made to show support for your sailor and make a great keepsake for a scrapbook, frame, or shadow box. I only sell them on this site so everyone you see with them on are N4M members. They are about 5" tall depending on how long the name is and the pictures do not do them justice. They look much better in person. I will post a couple of pics below and you can also go to my page and see more sample as well as some of the scrapbook items I make for Navy scrapbooks. To order just click on my name and send me a friend request and I will send you all the info for ordering. Sorry it took me so long to respond. I have been really missing my sailor today on her 21st Birthday.

Donna I have a son in Ship 07 Div 052 too! Kevin is son, maybe we should ask our son's if they know each other the next time we write. What's your son's name?

Diannep: Thanks for answering that question.. although I can't figure out what his "talent" is other than, making cricket noises and speaking with different accents and a few others a mom's not proud of...hahah... I really miss his humor :(

We got a letter on Monday from our SR... actually "GirlFriend" did... it was just addressed to me... OF COURSE I read it!!! He said he was not getting yelled at, but some of the other guys were getting it pretty good. He said he was writing his letter in the dark in his rack. He didn't like his 1st rack mate too much, but that kid got moved to another division and now he has a really cool bunk mate "Henderson".. with the same type of humor. Said he doesn't have time to write, they are kept busy... and said he and 1 other guy had PT test for spec ops on Tuesday (yesterday).. said he was going to do his best, that's what he wants.

So it's killing me to find out how he did on his test..

EileenS... I will send him a calling card in tomorrows letter. I love the idea of sending him the fast food gift cards for Christmas.. Can't wait to find out from you which places they have there... he will be surprised, I'm sure.. Every year we give him a big Christmas gift... I was struggling with that this year given the circumstances, but I think I got it. We will pay for "GirlFriends"& "BestFriends" plane tickets to see him graduate.. I think that is what he will want most, to see us, all... hhhmmmm maybe I'll take his dog Rusty (wienner dog)... then he'll have everyone there.

Good point ellen! Even less a day for those traveling the day before so it seems closer now in a strange sense!

My son is SHIP 07 DIV 052 PIR 1/21. We are planning a road trip, about 12 hours, I can't wait. He is a GRAD-N-GO. We're hoping to spend at least an hour with him, before he has to pack. Will probably meet him at the airport before he ships out to Charleston SC "A" school for NUKE program
