for
~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

mtg4life, Ask what your son would like you to bring him. He won't need a TV, and certainly won't need a refridge. He may want some civies, a pair of jeans, a couple t-shirts, and real underwear if he is a boxer boy.
Anything your son has in his room that is not Navy issued must be stored in his closet when not in the room. Anything your son has he also has to be able to move it on his own with no help.
My son also stayed in GL for A School, and in the last three weeks of school he moved five times. Holiday Stand Down is upon them quickly after PIR, and he may need to store everything if he is able to go on leave.
Perhaps when your son is on liberty you can go shopping with him. He may want a real pillow, and a real blanket. :)
KimmyP,
My son is staying in GL for A school. what should I pack for him. I see where you said you spent $400 at Walmart, if you don't mind sharing what does he need. He has soooo much here from his first year of college. I don't want to buy things twice. I can pack some things and bring them and mail some other things. Does he need a fridge, tv, he has a laptop, I know his cell phone, what about blankets, I know toiletries. I am just trying to get everything in order. I do not need too many surprises at graduation.
Thanks for the prayers speech3! :)
Thanks for the encouraging words Kimmyp!! :)
Thanks texasmom and fabmom. I got a real phone call!!! I got to talk to him for 30 minutes! He is moved to the special division started PT and is having the bone scan tomorrow morning. He seems in a little better spirits but is bummed about the set back. Hopefully he keeps the faith and heals quickly!
Kimmy and diannep, Thanks for the info!
Kya97, YES YOU DO GET HIM FOR THE WEEKEND! you will get instruction how to pick him up just about 4 hours after PIR it's difficult but worth it. Just head back an hour before he is due for curefew , it's critical. Then the next morning, I went to pick up gate at 5;45 am you can get him at 6 AM, he has to walk out, so a little later, but I didn't want to be late he had to be back by 10 pm so we left at 8;30 pm and the gate was chuck full and only got him to his room by 9;45, so be careful . lots to know lots to buy, we shopped Walmart one day and spent $400 it's like college dorm rooms, seriously
let me know if you have any more questions, I am a GL A school mom
MTG4life, I think that your presentation of coins will be amazing. I am sure overwhelming to your son. wait a little after seeing him for the first time, not later, just like 10 minutes later when the initial shock has worn off. they shove you out of the building by then. Take a pic of each brother doing it. If they get "challenged" from someone, they produce their coin and give the history including who presented it. he will have so much pride ! navy mom hug
