N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

realtreegirl:  praying for some answers as well a God's healing hands on your son

Kya:  It is possible that she wrote her letter to you BEFORE they passed out the "held" mail last Sunday.  My guess is that she received your letters then....and is writing again today!  They mail out on Mondays only.  But receive mail M-F.

realtreegirl:  So very sorry but praying for quick healing!

Beth:  Posting initials and hometowns is fine on here.

Comment by diannep on November 15, 2015 at 4:52pm

mtg4life:  Its up to you how many coins you give your new sailor.  They may also receive these from their future commands as rewards for good work.

Kya97,  They don't hold the mail from your recruits (they can't), but it is possible that they just haven't gotten around to sorting all the mail yet.

It is very possible that as soon as she sent that letter, your letters arrived in her hands. It happens a lot. :)

realtreegirl, Those scripted calls are never easy to receive.

Stress fractures in the foot and shin splints are a very common problem in BC. Sounds like your son will be in the RCU for a few weeks, and that is a good thing believe it or not.

The bone scan is probably for several different reasons. My guess would be they want to check on the severity of the fracture, and the other would be to rule out the possibility of it happening again right away. Again, just my guess.

I will tell you many recruits with those issues are sent home right away, without further testing, but the Navy evidently wants your son to become a Sailor since they are checking him out thoroughly.  Bravo Zulu to him!!!!

If everything checks out ok, and he when he is cleared, he will be put in another division to finish training, and proceed on to PIR.

Hugs to you and prayers his way!!

Thanks mtg4life! Praying hard for his strength and quick healing so he can continue his journey!

quick question:  both of my younger boys want to give my SR "the handshake" and challenge coin.  I ordered the one for his ship and the sailors creed and core value coins.  So we all can give him a coin .. is this too much?

Comment by mtg4life on November 15, 2015 at 4:20pm

realtreegirl, my prayers are with you and your family!  I pray that he gets to call you and answer all your concerns.  He is strong and will pass this "test" too!!

Our daughter is in Ship 02 Div 906, looking forward to PIR 11 Dec! Has anyone heard if the Cadre are holding on the mail? We got her letter two days ago and stated she hasn't gotten any of our letters or cards yet! We've written her several times in the last two weeks.
