Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Comment by diannep on November 14, 2015 at 2:43pm: texasmom: Is the hotel you are booked in Navy Lodge? If so, it is actually not on base but rather in the housing section about 1.5 miles away. Just didn't want you to think you are right there where your SR is! There IS a hotel on the A School base called Navy Gateway. Maybe that is where you are booked?

Any of you all can stay at Navy Lodge courtesy of your SR. No military ID needed for PIR weekend.

The first call this morning I couldn't hear him and we got disconnected! But thankfully he was able to call back! What a great way to start your Saturday!! I hope others are getting calls as well!!

Comment by ellen0502 on November 14, 2015 at 12:38pm: texasmom79, The names on the form letter are not necessarily the names that will be on the final guest list for PIR. Your SR will be given the opportunity to make his/her final list closer to PIR. Make sure to let your SR know who is able to come and who you would like on the guest list.

The best way really is to rent a car. It will probably end up being less expensive than taxis in the long run. If you are not wanting to rent a car contact Sarge for taxi service. He is the one that hosts one of the meet and greets the night before, and has a wealth of information.

Next question what is the best way to get from Chicago O'hare toNavy base " as in traveling" my brothers is flying in as well he is a Navy veteran so he book us a room on base.

Comment by diannep on November 14, 2015 at 10:22am: Renee: As far as the blood test being done before they head into the Navy...sigh....we hear many times of "situations" where a SR has disclosed medical info to the recruiter that is not passed on to RTC....and the SRs get 'caught' during medical evaluation up there with these issues. It is so not fair....since many times the recruiters know a medical situation can disqualify a SR but they send him/her anyway. In your case. your SR knew nothing of this. Maybe they do more intense blood tests at RTC? You would be surprised at how many times someone on here posts that their SR had a medical condition diagnosed at Bootcamp that she/he never had before. I know one common disorder is panic/anxiety disorders. Families will say that their SRs never had any of this before Bootcamp. But the stress of Bootcamp, being isolated from family/friends, the mind games, etc....many times, this can come out. Panic/anxiety disorders usually result in discharge.

Prayers for all of the SRs....that they will have accurate medical evaluations!

Comment by diannep on November 14, 2015 at 10:15am: realtreegirl: If you do not hear from your SR this weekend, then you can try contacting RTC PAO on Monday. It is better to contact by email. The email address is in your form letter....or you can reach them through the CONTACT tab on the RTC site. It is hard to get through by phone. You would need to give them your SR's PIR date, Div number and you may or may not receive the info you want. They possibly will tell you to wait to hear from your SR....if there is a change in his status.

No news is usually good news But since he is being evaluated, I know the wait is awful. Keep the faith! Hope you hear something from him soon. If he is in RCU to heal, he most likely will not have a new PIR date for you yet since there is no telling how long it will take for him to heal. You will just know that he has been removed from his current PIR group.

Comment by realtreegirl on November 14, 2015 at 7:59am: According to my sons letter he was supposed to see a doctor yesterday 11-13 about his foot. He had said that he thought someone would let me know if he is going to a special division or not or they would let him call me but I did not hear anything. I did cal his recruiter who gave me the number to call PAO on Monday if I don't here anything by then. It is so frustrating not knowing how he is doing and if he won't be going through PIR in December. Is no news good news?
