Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Comment by diannep on November 12, 2015 at 12:16am: realtreegirl: The A Schools go on Stand Down for the holidays so your new sailor most likely will get some Leave time to come home during that time if he submits a chit at A School and it is approved. He will find this out when he arrives at A School.

Comment by KarenLynn on November 11, 2015 at 9:15pm: Pulliam1991 - I am sorry to hear that you haven't received any letters. I was shocked when I got mine - I didn't think he would write. You will get some letters, I am sure. When I talked with my son he said the division was doing well, and that it was a good group of people. That always makes me feel better when I get to missing him.

I figure the next time I will talk to him will be Thanksgiving. The week before the phone call was the worst week for me emotionally. I hope you are doing okay.

Comment by Pulliam1991 on November 11, 2015 at 6:52pm: Hello my daughter is in division 41 ship 12. I was really upset when I didn't hear from her on Sunday November 8th. I did hear from on 11/1, but no letters or calls since. Her PIR is 12/11/15 if all goes well.
