OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Beth, your welcome ! also, 905 has so much training to do to perform on PIR for you that they have no time to write, by the time sunday liberty comes, they are exhausted, you will get one so watch that box but when you see graduation you will understand how much more they had to do ! congrats on the 905 Division !

Comment by Beth on November 9, 2015 at 12:15pm
I think division 905 has yet to receive one personal letter. I think most of us got a call last Sunday though right?
Comment by Beth on November 9, 2015 at 12:14pm
Thanks for the encouragement Kimmyp. I wish I could be there for Thanksgiving but we live in San Diego and it's just too far and expensive to go. We already are gonna be going to the graduation of course. It's expensive for three people to fly out there. I'm so happy for those of you that will get to see your SR that will be awesome!
Comment by Nicole on November 9, 2015 at 12:07pm
I also have not gotten a letter yet. But my SR is on SHIP 06 DIV 040. I know his mom has on 10/31 & I also got a call from him on that same day. But he had said he was sending out my letters that week and I have yet to receive them. I feel like by the time I get them we are going to be at PIR!
