for
~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Thanks for the explanation, Kimmy. We always advise everyone to check the hotels' reviews on TripAdvisor.com before booking.
Diannep, I sent you a note and friend request. I so happy for all the moms getting calls. I remember that day like yesterday I was jumping for joy. Keep that smile on and remember you look at the same moon.
Just a headsup....for those visiting their SRs for Thanksgiving (Adopt as Sailor), I do not believe you will be allowed to stay at Navy Lodge unless you have your own military ID. For PIR weekend, they make an exception and families can stay there courtesy of their newly-graduated sailor's name. But I don't believe the same is true of Thanksgiving Adopt a Saior day. Please check with Navy Lodge and make sure that is ok. Navy Lodge is for those with military ID only....except for PIR weekend.
Kinmyp: Sailors are not allowed at Red Roof Inn? Where did that info come from? It may be true of A School sailors in GL, but for PIR weekend, there are exceptions made for the newly graduated sailors. This has been a mess involving those staying at Navy Lodge also for PIR weekend, but RTC finally got it straightened out. The exceptions are only for PIR weekend, not for those visiting their A School students later.
06/040 - Received my first letter from my son yesterday along with the Thanksgiving form. He said he sent it last Sunday, 10/25 when we spoke over the weekend. He said that the best thing was the food and the awesome blue digital camo clothes!!
I get nervous for the SR I adopted if he gets a chance to call and has no one, my heart would break. Anyone in 14 / 036 ? Arizona ? I sent letter last week and this week, not sure when he will get them.
Ship 6/Div43 - Got our phone call this morning! It was so good to hear his voice! He said things are getting better now that P-days are over. It does sound like there are a lot of ups and downs and sickness, but he's stayed relatively healthy so far. He said most in his division were getting phone calls today. All in all, it's not as bad as he thought it might be, even though he hates most of the food.
Lkeej, stay at navy lodge it's inexpensive and a few miles from the base, NO RED ROOF INN, SR's are not allowed there, the list of hotels is in the brochure posted by diannep here on this thread.
Remember you are now one day closer to seeing them just a few Fridays to go and the tears will be flowing !!!
have a wonderful day moms !! I too am an empty nester, it's a tough one. I focus on the dog now.
