OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

NCNavymom I am so sorry! I am praying right now that he'll be able to call you back. I can't imagine how you're feeling. Waiting to see if my daughter will be able to call today.

I received a call!!! Ship2/Div906!! The div had IT last week and missed getting to call. My euphonium player seems in good spirits! He is looking forward to Thanksgiving with us! His 'RDC' (?acromym) did not sound very promising about having any other SR join us for adopt a sailor @ TG!
He has been too tired to write after rack time. He sleeps in top of everything so as not to have a mess to fix in the morning! Reports it gets cold!
SOOO glad to have heard from him.
HAPPY!!! FNM

Jackie, They do need a phone card to call home. They have the chance to buy one at the NEX, but you might want to send one to your recruit. The ones from the NEX don't have a lot of minutes.

It's all good!  Thanks for all you do.

My bad Navymom65. I knew there were two 900 divisions this group, usual for this time of the year, and still forgot to add them.

Fixed, and many apologies!

do the kids need to have a way to pay for the calls home?
