N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Hotels that have been recommended by others on this site are:

Springhill Suites, Courtyard, Holiday Inn Express, Residence Inn....all close to Sarge's MeetandGreet....4-5 miles from RTC (10 min).  Call directly and ask for the Navy Graduation rate.  Keep calling Navy Lodge back to check on any cancellations.  It happens!    Sarge runs a shuttle service for PIR and goes to most all hotels, so no problem getting a shuttle from a hotel.  Navy Lodge I believe has their own.  The taxi service around town also operates as shuttles for PIR and you can sign up for their service when you check into your hotel.  You can sign up for Sarge's at his MeetandGreet or on his website (click on one of the links to his MeetandGreet below left under EVENTS to get more specific info.)

You all do not forget about Southwest Airlines for travel.  They have no change fee....something I could have used 6 yrs ago when my son was delayed in training a week after we had made our reservations on another airlines (didn't know about Southwest then).  So we were charged the $150/per ticket (2) change fee.  New flights were cheaper so it was like $89/per ticket, so not quite as bad. but still......also, Southwest checks 2 bags for free and offers a car rental discount code.

NCNavymom thanks a bunch... I defiantly do not want him to stand out!  I will shower him when I see him at PIR!

Does anyone know how it works for those staying in Great Lakes for A school... so we get to spend anytime with them after graduation?

From what I gathered you can't send care packages to RTC. I could be wrong. However I've seem time and time again that it's not a good idea to send anything that will make your SR stand out.

hello everyone,

As I am reading I see that other group members have mailed items along with the letters.  Can we send a care package?  I have not received my letter yet.  I have his address though.  I am sending letters out today.  I just wanted to know if I can send anything else.  I can't sit still.

Thanks fab5mom. Hopefully we hear something soon.

TiffG don't feel bad I'm not gong to get up there for Thanksgiving either. To be honest I'm more concerned with Christmas. But I guess I'll just wait to see how is pans out. Sure wish he could have avoided being away this year on the holidays. But I guess that just part of military life and we need to get use to it.

NCNavymom my son left 10/13 and I got the box and form letter pretty quick, along with the initial phone call. Sent him his Bible and a few pictures and have also sent a few letters from the family. Just hoping to get something in return soon! Thanksgiving is going to kill me...knowing we could see him, but highly doubt I can pull that trip out twice in two months with airfare, etc.

Same here ladies, booked Navy Lodge for both stays and mailed a letter this morning asking if he heard anything about Thanksgiving, I'll let you all know too when I hear anything.

TiffG My SR arrived to RTC on 10/14. So far all I have gotten it's the "I'm here" call, the box and the form letter.
