OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

It looks like the recruit just needs to fill out the correct paperwork and then we are good to go for thanksgiving right?

Glad you got your box Laurie!

Finally got the box today. Never been so happy to see and smell dirty clothes. Took 3 days to finally be able to meet up with fedex. Walked around the house just smelling her shirt for a while. So comforting...

I wish we lived closer! We live in San Diego California and we're already going to come out for graduation so won't be able to make it for Thanksgiving. We have a friend in Wisconsin that would be willing to pick her up and take her to their home for Thanksgiving but it's not allowed only immediate family members. Too bad!

We are only in Minnesota a little over 400 miles for us.

I would love to go for Thanksgiving. I just don't see how we could make it work. If only he wasn't 800 miles away.

We are definitely planning on going to GL for Thanksgiving with our SR.  Can't wait to see her and give her a big hug!

Sandy I just openednmy sons. The box has been riding around with me since 2:00. I was joking about it being my "baby" and taking it places. My daughter thought I lost my mind....but she did buckle "him" up. Safety first! lol I had told his gf I would wait for her to open it so I did. It is totally comforting smelling his shirt. My heart fills at ease for the moment.
