Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

This TG will be eligible for the Thanksgiving Adopt-A-Sailor Program.

Here is the link to RTC Facebook's NOTES for the general particulars:

Thanksgiving Adopt-A-Sailor program

Also, see their main page for the post and questions from loved ones.

Thanksgiving Adopt-A-Sailor will affect those TG's that have PIR on Dec. 4 and Dec. 11 ONLY. All other TG's will celebrate Thanksgiving on RTC with a traditional dinner and Holiday Routine.

When it is time to open up Discussions for the Brother Divisions I will post this in your Discussion Forum area as a reference.

Hello!

I am a “veteran” mom. When I am on here my focus is mainly the PIR Groups and Boot Camp Mom's.

You can call me FTLW, it's easier :-)

My Sailor PIR’d in 05/2011. He is a Seabee Reservist. I am an AF (Security Forces) Reservist wife (29 years - now retired). I know …not Navy…but I am familiar with military life! We have been through two Deployments. Our son enlisted while Hubby was on his 2nd Deployment.. This site was a Godsend and helped me get through not only our sons BC experience but my husbands Deployment.

Son left on 10/13. I missed the FedEx guy today so I will get his box tomorrow. I miss him so much and am glad to have found this group, it really helps to be able to talk to other Navy moms thanks

I haven't received my form letter yet but my daughter's recruiter finally came through with her info. Ship 02 div. 906.  I am assuming she will have PIR on 12/11, since all of the other info on SR's that arrived on that date say that's their PIR date.  Already booked the hotel and we will probably be driving.

I'm really hoping time flies quickly, I can't wait to see my Sailor and give/get the biggest hug ever!

Oh I absolutely think that's why. Hopefully you'll get it tomorrow:-)
