Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Comment by diannep on October 22, 2015 at 7:01pm: amanda: Probably so. They would go ahead and go through INDOC if the base is not closing for 2 more weeks, I would think. However, I think that the base would go on Standown before 2 weeks? Regardless, I think your sailor will report to A School base after Bootcamp.

Now, the group behind this one probably will not report to A School first....but it really depends on each base and what their rules are.

Comment by amanda on October 22, 2015 at 7:22am: Good morning everyone.im excited to have joined this group.i counted 9 fridays and it brought me here.i still havent recieved my form letter,but i hope it comes anyday now.i recieved my box on tuesday.i balled my eyes out but was glad i didnt miss it!im only off tuesdays and was on my way out.passed the fed ex van.stayed at the stop at the corner watched him pull over infront of my house and turned around so quik!when i pulled up on him im sure he thought who is this crazy lady!. Im super excited there is a chance to see my son for thanksgiving.

Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on October 22, 2015 at 12:19am: hanncam - The Recruits will send the Request form filled out with their info and send it to you. You will sign and date it and send it back by the deadline provided for approval.

I think they ask you to fax it or scan and email it back. You should get instructions. If not you can contact RTC PAO. The contact info is in the body of their NOTE at the bottom.

The reason you don't mail it back is that you will need it on Thanksgiving Day when you pick up your Recruit. It will be your Gate Pass in order for you to enter RTC and then the papers are gathered and recruits names called out to connect them up with their family. Everything done in an orderly fashion :-)
