Thanks, Lala!  So happy that you and the other administrators visited and can update us!

ktsmom:  We don't recommend postcards, unless enclosed in your SR's letter (maybe that is what you did?) since they can be read by the RDCs etc.  But yes, I agree....tucking a postcard into your SR's letter for another SR is a great idea!

Good Morning All !  Happy Veteran's Day!  Thinking of all who gave their lives, the wounded and the non-wounded.....who sacrificed so much for the freedom in this country.  And for the ones who continue to serve in such tough times!  May the Lord watch over all of them.  Thank You from the bottom of our hearts to each of them!

Navygirlfriend11,

Since I don't know these young men, and don't know their names yet, I have said some basic things. Like: that I am my son's mom, how amazing it is that they are doing what they are doing and how proud they should be. I tell them about me and where I am from. I try to be funny, light, and super supportive and positive. When writing my son, I never tell  him how truly hard this is for me. If I do say I miss him, I make it funny, like" I miss you a lot when the dogs need to be walked in the rain, or I have to pick up dog poop, or I an cooking and cant reach something in the kitchen on the top shelf". He knows I am missing him, because we are so close, but I try to be light and funny. I have cut out funny comic strips and made copies and sent to them. (newsprint can get on their fingers and is hard to get off, so I make copies and write around the news article). Post cards are great too.

***Don't forget to include your return address so these SRs can write you back.

I agree with ktsmom, navygirlfriend!  In the past, many ask their SRs if there are others not receiving mail, and they then tuck in extra letters for these SRs.  I received some very nice letters back from some that I wrote to during Bootcamp.  One girl in particular wrote me several times and really opened up!   So it is a great idea

So ladies, ask your SRs in the next letter for names of those who can use letters and tuck one in for that SR!

Great! That makes me really happy! I'm about to start writing! What are some things I should write in the letter to this other recruit? Any ideas?

Comment by ktsmom96 on November 10, 2014 at 4:26pm

navygirlfriend11;

Absolutely! I have sent extra letters numerous times for my son to give to his friends that are not receiving mail. I went online and made up word searches and put some stamps, etc into them too. As long as it doesn't take more than 1 stamp, if it does, then it will have to be opened in front of RDC. When mine have required extra postage, I wrote on the outside that there were extra letters inside for other SRs. I have not heard from my son that he hasn't gotten flack for any of that:)

I have a question regarding letters. My boyfriend got to call me yesterday and he said there was a guy next to him that was sending a bunch of letters out but not receiving many back in return. Am I allowed to put an extra letter in the envelope I send to my boyfriend with a letter to this other recruit or do I need to ask for his address and send it that way?
