Father, in the coming days, I will need You, but my recruit will need You more!
Let him perform his tasks with a sense of duty, not of anger or vengeance. Let his reflexes be quick and his hands steady. Let his head be clear and his eyes sharp. Let his mind and body be strong and his spirit stronger.

God, please stand by my recruit and watch his back when he cannot!
Father, I love this recruit of mine! Take from me what he needs and give me what he does not.

I will pace the nights, if it means he gets some sleep.
I will deal with fatigue, if it means he will have energy.
I will carry his fear, if it means it gives him courage.
I will take his pain, if it means he is healthy and whole.
I will take his anger, if it means he is at peace.
Take my love and pride and let him feel it!
Let him know that I am with him every step of the way!
Please, take from me what You can; I give it willingly and with love.
It is all I have besides my prayers.
Above all, please help my recruit to achieve his goal of becoming...
A United States Navy Sailor!

This I ask on bended knee, that which I cannot do without YOU!

SoCalNukeMom (Chris),

Hiya!! I understand about being in a bunch of groups!  I think during Boot Camp, I just limited myself to my PIR group and the Boot Camp Moms one.  Then during A school, the Sailors in A school in Pensacola and the IT one.  I noticed with the one for their ratings (jobs), I was dealing with parents whose Sailors were in all different stages, bases, and ships, but just all had the same job--a little over-whelming there since my Sailor daughter was still training, so I backed out of that one.  Then after she got to her first duty station, I joined that group, but pop in generally only when I need specific info.  Just a balance of connections and support and I love being part of this N4Ms veteran moms team with diannep, ellen0502, FTLW, Lala, and lemonelephant helping on all the PIR groups and the Boot Camp Moms one!!  Helps that I'm a stay at home mommy too~~

We're here for you!!

Raina:  Not sure how many will be able to pick up their SRs for Thanksgiving, so not sure how hectic it will be.  Someone had posted that you could pick them up by 7:30?  Was that info on the form?  Don't think you will have a problem with pickup/drop off....so just enjoy that very special day!

Comment by Raina on November 24, 2014 at 10:01pm

Hi all! I'm very excited to get to go see my boy for Thanksgiving! Can someone (veteran, that is) say just how hectic it may be getting in and out of the base on that day? traffic? standing in line, etc? Will it be crazy dropping him off that night? I want to keep him as long as possible, but don't want to get him or the other SR we're adopting back late either!

We had a reservation at a restaurant in Lake Bluff, but it was for 1100 and I feel obliged to clear out in a timely manner. Besides, do I really want to eat turkey dinner @ 11am? We're going to Golden Corral instead. Hopefully, we won't need to wait too long for a table, but at least we'll be waiting together :)

About the other SR... I posted on the Thanksgiving discussion that his initials are J.P., div 043. If anyone thinks they know this guy, send me a message!

Thanks be to God for all good gifts - happy Thanksgiving to you all!

Hi diannep, CatMom509 and Faith,

I apologize for not commenting more often as well! I have been reading the posts, but connecting on Facebook with the mother of another recruit who we might be able to adopt on Thanksgiving. I work fulltime, and don't have a lot of time to be online. I'm also in the Nuke discussions and frankly they all get a little mixed in with the different conversations going on in all the groups!

So.... hello to all and thank you to diannep for putting this thread together. I so appreciate it. it is a life line. Especially for me all the way out here in Southern California!

Best, Chris

Good Day!
