~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Good afternoon everyone. It is a bone chilling day here at Great Lakes. We expect snow tomorrow however, Thursday and Friday look good and no more snow until Saturday. The Meet and Greet will go on as scheduled regardless of the cold. I have checked the RSVP list and have ordered the food for Thursday. This is our last meet and greet for 2013. My wife and I proudly served food to over 9,000 navy loved ones this year. I want to thank those who voluntarly contributed in the donation box at the buffet line and also to Lora McIntosh who donated items to be raffled to help generate funds for the meet and greet. I also want to thank those who went beyond the call of duty to volunteer & coordinate the basket raffles. A job well done. As this year comes to a close for the P.I.R.s I want to also thank the Admins on the facebook pages and the Navy For Moms pages. Their information insured that our Navy families have a stress free weekend. I salute them all. Last but not least, let us not forget our service members who are serving overseas and stateside protecting our freedoms. These men and women are the true spirit of democracy and deserve our support and prayers. Some will not be home for Christmas. Their spirits can be uplifted by just saying thank you for being my hero. Operation Gratitude http://www.operationgratitude.com/ has taken many of steps to insure our troops have a happy holiday. Visit their website and read their financial reports. http://www.redcross.org/support/get-involved/holiday-mail-for-heroes is the place to express your thanks. Thank you - God bless you, your family, and the Great United States of America.

Since we are all feeling a little stressed right now, I thought I would share a cute conversation I had with my SRs' little sister.  My son had written a letter home, explaining that he had volunteered for sub duty, but that their sister was limited to serving on a carrier only.  My 16 yo daughter looked at me with her 16 yo attitude and said, "Well, that's not fair.  Why is that?"  I tried to explain it to her, but she was clearly mortally offended.  She said, "Well, I think the Navy should have an all girls sub division.  And it should be PINK!"  =D

I certainly hope some of those calls will be coming today!!!  I would hope the Navy wouldn't cut things too close to PIR!!!   They are killing us!!   Boot Camp is so much tougher on us Mom's!!!

Comment by Hummingbird on December 10, 2013 at 11:45am

I am hoping when the posts start coming about phone calls received the division number can be included so we will all know which divisions went through.  That might help reduce some of the anxiety, if that is even possible.
