OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

racey:  Pack...just in case.  He will get to try the run again on Wed and if he makes it, he should be at PIR (he should pass Battlestations....).  So please keep your plans for now...many have been in this position and have passed at the last moment.  Prayers for wings on his feet!

Sounds like they will be doing BattleStations over 2 nights in this group.  That means 4 divisions per night.  This PIR group should be completed by Wed morning with BattleStations.  It is very unusual to do BattleStations over just 2 nights...but maybe the staff needed a night off (last night) to get some rest!

Tracey, I'm really sorry about your son :( You have to write to him and encourage him. He needs your support. My prayers to you and your son!

Thanks for the heads up thewatchgoddess. And Tracey, I'm sure his next test will go much better.

Comment by Thewatchgoddess on December 9, 2013 at 8:22pm
According to the awesome lady who was keeping track of battlestations dates, there will be no "I'm a sailor calls" today.

He didn't pass the run part of the fitness test.
Comment by nnavek on December 9, 2013 at 8:08pm

So sorry Tracey.  I don't know all of the terms well, does this mean he didn't pass the fitness test? or the Battle Stations?  It will be okay, In a couple of months, this will be but a memory...and he will be a sailor busy with his A school.
