Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Comment by diannep on December 7, 2013 at 1:19am: Any I'm a Sailor calls today? If not, all divisions will be going next week, most likely starting on Sunday night with BattleStations. Captains Cup tomorrow for this PIR group. Fun for them! Athletic competition between divisions. Held on Sat. mornings.

Prayers for "my" SR, my son's best friend. I just got a letter from him yesterday, he said he missed Marlinspike and has only 1 day to make it up. If he doesn't he will get ASMO'd and have to wait another 3 weeks for PIR. :(

I don't know why he missed Marlinspike, he didn't include that.

Comment by HuskerFan on December 6, 2013 at 9:38am: Lala - he actually said a lot of them are NOT getting mail. His letter actually says "I'm not the only one who hasn't gotten any letters lately - it seems like they might be withholding them for the entire division". In his letter he seems frustrated at this point. He says there are ups and downs. In his past letters the RDCs were nice, he says now some of his DIV is lazy and the RDCs are getting mad. When I had talked to him on Thanksgiving they had only had to IT 1 time, now they are doing it because some recruits are lazy and not doing what they are suppose to. I just have to keep telling myself - 1 more week, 1 more week. I just wish he could get my letters so he knew I was always thinking about him. He did tell me they don't get mail call everyday. They were getting it 3 times a week.
