~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Sounds wonderful, Hummingbird, but no care packages allowed at RTC....sigh...you may want to keep that in mind for something to do before PIR....and take those with you!  A little delayed Thanksgiving for your new sailor!

Comment by Hummingbird on November 24, 2013 at 12:20am

Hello Everyone, I need some advise please.  I am wanting to bake like a storm tomorrow and send a large box of goodies to my SR's division for Thanksgiving but some have told me that would not be good for my SR.  Does anyone know about this?  I am so sad that I cannot be with him for Thanksgiving I wanted to send him a taste from home.

Dianne p, Oops, sorry, I did forget to mention that they are same PIR. He is in 038, and she is in 040, same rating.  I hope it works out, too, as I know they are missing each other.  Maybe this will be something I can offer information to someone about in the future.  :-)

Ok, checked your page and see that your son/daughter are in the same PIR group.  Wow, that would be wonderful if they were together for Thanksgiving...just not sure how that works.  I'm sure it depends on how many SRs a church/community group can accommodate...fingers crossed that it works out!  :-)

Comment by diannep on November 23, 2013 at 10:52am

Hmmmm, 8isenuff:  Not sure if divisions go together, but imagine they would.  Are your son and daughter in different divisions but the same PIR group?

Diannep, I read that the SRs who are not adopted out for Thanksgiving go to a church or somewhere for dinner, etc. Do you know if they all go together as a divison and have to stay together as a division?  I was wondering what the chances were that my son and daughter would actually be able to see each other for a minute.

Beetle:  Has 906 performed at a PIR yet?  Are those the piks he is talking about?  If so, they would be on the link ellen provided.  Did you go through the photos/albums and see if you could find anything?  Hope you can find them soon!
