~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

andimic:  I agree with ellen. They are supposed to call if they failed their PFA or are delayed for any other reason.  Then the rule at RTC is to NOT head to GL unless you get a followup call from your SR/sailor saying that he/she is now a sailor.  This can be "iffy" since sometimes they just didn't get a chance to make the I'm a Sailor call, but if you travel to GL and your SR is not yet a sailor, you will not be allowed to visit with your SR...nor can you get on base.  They will tell you that they will have your SR call you that day, but that rarely happens either.

Remember, this only applies to those who have received the "didn't pass/won't graduate" call re: PFAs, etc.  If you have not received the I'm a Sailor call....but also received no "I'm delayed" call...then chances are you have a Sailor and probably best to head to GL.  I know, confusing, and quite hard for families who had to make so many arrangements to attend PIR, but it is the way it is!

If you cannot reach the PAO by phone (sometimes difficult), try to email through the RTC contact form link below.  Many times, they answer this before phone calls.  Good Morning All !

jrose, that is learning rope handling and stuff for ships. I think it happens around week 5 or 6. I remember my son telling me about it, he said his division did exceptionally well way back in July.

Hi all,

I received an update on our Navy sister who had the stroke.  Her drs and therapists say she is doing well.  She has walked the length of the parallel bars, with some help, which is a big improvement from a week ago.  Of course she is saddened by the fact that she can't come to watch her son graduate, but her sister and her daughter will be there to support him.  She said he was extremely upset by all of this the last time they spoke on Thanksgiving.  She has had no contact with him since then.  Please continue to lift this family up in your prayers.  He should have BST tonight.

BTW, he is Div 37

Any idea what would have caused a sailor to "miss" Marlinspike? This is what my son's friend told me in a letter and said he might have to wait 3 more weeks to PIR if he can't make it up. I have not heard any news and I haven't seen that his father has. I figured he might have called my son but he didn't report any calls either. He never said why he missed it.

Thank you Ellen0502.  I too thought I should have received a phone call if his status changed in any way.  I am praying for a call tomorrow.  Thank you for all of your help.

Congratulations on the "I Am A Sailor" calls, and more coming tomorrow. Bravo Zulu to your SAILORS!!!

If you will be traveling tomorrow and have not received your call, change your phone message to let your sailor know how proud you are of him/her, and that you are traveling to GL to see him/her on Friday.  Let them know when they may be able to get a hold of you, they may have the opportunity to call you again if the time is close.

andimc14, Your SR should have called you if he failed his PFA or if there was any doubt he wouldn't have been graduating. It is very possible that he was one to have had watch/duty today and was not able to call you. I would call the PAO late tomorrow afternoon, giving your sailor some time to call you . The PAO can't and won't give you much information, so you have to be specific in what you ask.

Tell them you are getting ready to travel to graduation on Friday, you haven't heard from your SR, and you were wondering if he was still on target to graduate. They will ask you several questions about your SR, and will only tell you yes or no (I am guessing he is). Don't ask for more info because they can't and won't give you any. 847-688-2405

jrose, How you address them after BC will depend on rating, and rate. What is your sailors rating (job)?

So touching how this wonderful group of women can pull together for each other in these happy and sad times... There is a special bond here!

Very happy for the moms who received their Sailor call...congratulations!!!

So so sorry for the Moms who received the call they weren't expecting. My thoughts go out to you and your SR.

Like Sailor Girl, I have not received a call from div 039 & I fly from AZ to Chicago tomorrow morning. Sure was hoping to hear something before I left...
