OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security)
(Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips)

This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way.

The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

 • Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for your personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Get an early start, Ladies, in the morning.  With the bad weather and traffic, you will need to be up and rolling early!  ENJOY!

Congratulations to all of you Mom's....it has been quite an adventure...So sorry that I couldn't be there with my Grandson, to see him change from a recruite to a Sailor but do to flight delay and cancellation of flight I am still in California...Enjoy and I hope that someday we will meet...again, a big thank you to the lovely ladies above for all their assistance...God Bless and Merry Christmas....

Comment by diannep on December 20, 2012 at 7:24pm

I'm so sorry for those having travel delays...prayers that you get there in time!  Be safe!

Ladies in Div 036!  Can anyone get a pik of southcarolinamom's sailor and send it to her?  If so, post here so she can email you his last name!  No last names on this public board, but private message is good.  Not sure if she has already arranged this, but you never can have too many piks of a new sailor anyway!  :-)

MommaJeri...We're here at the e residence Inn too!! A little scary when we lost power but alls well know!! How will I know you...We are traveling with 2 teens, one has long brown hair the other a little shorter blond hair...Hope to see you all at Sarges meet & Greet....He picked us up from the airport, then had another driver take us to the mall...they are sooooo nice, just like long lost family!!! He is taking us to Graduation in the morning if you'd like to join us we can check with him....I think it would be easier than driving there yourself....15 more hours till we see our "SAILORS". Yipppeeeee!!!

My wife and I flew in yesterday to beat the weather. Our original flight today was pushed back by a few hours, but not yet cancelled. Our son's girlfriend's flight from Phoenix was pushed from 1 to 7:45 tonight. IF the flight still makes it, she'll reach our hotel at around 2 a.m.

Good luck everyone!
