~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security)
(Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips)
This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way.
The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for your personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Good Morning all!
So very sorry, AnthonysMom. Wow. Yes, make sure you write to your SR and give him the corrected names to put on the list. He will update this about a week before PIR...and they have a policy now that if your name is not on the list, you won't get in.
As far as "facetime" during graduation. I'm assuming you mean something like skyping? Hmmm....not sure about that---my guess is "no". You may want to ask that question on RTC FB or call Public Affairs Office and ask them: 847-688-2405
Sooo.....it sounds like it was a "good thing" that they messed up the grad date in some of the letters...because it allowed for an extra phone call from your SRs..short but you heard their voices, so that was sweet, right? Congrats!
Tyrychad: Many hotels have free breakfast now. I know Residence Inn did...hot buffet breakfast, served earlier on PIR morning. Navy Lodge (close to RTC, no PIR shuttle, but if you don't want to drive, SARGE--has a transportation service and a MeetandGreet the night before PIR-- can take you) gives you a brown bag breakfast to take with you to PIR if you like...I would recommend Residence, Springhill Suites, and Comfort Inn too....all owned by Marriott....good service, nice, and they all have PIR shuttle. Close to Sarge's MeetandGreet too (about 4-5 miles from RTC).
HELP! I am both crushed and devastated. With the change of the date to 12/20 to 12/21 i am unable to attend the graduation. do any of you ladies know if they will be allowed to facetime in there during graduation? my sister and her husband are going in my place if my son can change the names. I work in the Finance Department and that 12/21 is the only date in the whole month they will not authorize for me to have leave. i'm sick to my stomach over this.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY sixftblnd2002 !!! :D
Good Morning Ladies! There are now 62 members of this group! YAH!
Only the four people listed by your SR will be able to attend PIR, no exceptions now, and it sucks (sorry outside voice). Your SR will have the opportunity to change the original list sometime in the last couple weeks of BC. Be sure to let them know who should be on the list (remind them more than once in your letters).
For those that have more that want to come, bring them anyway! They won't be able to attend PIR, but there are still the hours after, and for those SRs staying in GL the weekend, to visit with, celebrate with, congratulate, and most of all hug and tell them how proud you are of them.
PIR is a great thing to attend and a very proud moment for families, but it is only four hours of a great day or weekend (and early hours) to celebrate your SRs graduation.
Decorate your hotel room, order a cake, serve virgin mimosas (ok orange juice), and have those waiting get it all ready. Video tape it if you can, watch the video and tell them all the details when you get there with your SAILOR!
It can still be a great time for all!!
Ashley3188, call your husbands recruiter tomorrow and ask if they can give you the correct division number. They should have that information for you by now.
Me Teresa! My husbands letter said DIV 035/036 though.
this group PIR Reference Information (clickable link) has information on PIR including hotel reviews. :)
