N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security)
(Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips)

This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way.

The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

 • Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for your personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hey KT! Welcome! Yes, this is the next PIR after the 11/30. Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.net

I got your message and will send one back soon.

Hi all, I believe this is my new PIR group. My boyfriend shipped out Oct. 3rd, but has been held back to take a program this week which will delay his PIR until 12/21 since that is the next graduation after 11/30 unfortunately. I thought 9 weeks was a long wait, now I have another 3 more on top of that :( This past month has been a nightmare (emotional roller coaster to say the least) but finally getting his first real letter (4 weeks in to boot camp) and finding traces of his old self enclosed in his words makes me feel a little better. I know he is struggling but it will all be worth it. He will be in the 800 division, he was formally in Ship 4 Div 802. The first weeks are the hardest for the guys but like my SR said, they start to adjust. He's sad he will be leaving behind his old brothers but looks forward to making new connections with your sons in this PIR group.

HI everyone, it is so good to finally see a new group getting started. I bet you guys are beyond ready for it to start as well. I am Lala, one of the moms who has stuck around to help make this easier for you. I have two Sailors, my daughter had PIR in July 2010 and my SIL (her hubby) had PIR in Oct 2012. I just got back from visiting them in VA Beach. My daughter was in the 900 DIV and was in the choir. I look forward to hearing about your recruits and getting to know all of you. Welcome to Your PIR Group :-D

Got my letter....hooray in my sailors own new sailor handwriting...but it still has hints of his handwriting.  I had not cried for days, but when I saw it I got teary, and when my daughter said that she's changed her mind and wants to go to graduation with us, with her daughter and husband, I really cried.  Happy mamma!!!

My husband is retired Navy and just called Navy GateWay Inn for reservations for PIR ... they did say that rooms were available...has any of you had the opportunity to stay here?...the person I spoke with said it was located inside the base and was very convenient to the graduation...and information would be appreciated...

We are still awaiting the letter, too!

Comment by lipperk07 on November 1, 2012 at 4:10pm

Thanks FireTeamLeaderWife,

Hopefully they can figure that out pretty quickly. I know I will want to spend as much time is allowed with my son if he gets Liberty for the weekend, otherwise we may not need the extra couple of nights hotel stay if they are elegible to put in a chit.
Keep the info coming. Thanks!

Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on November 1, 2012 at 3:29pm

TY for emailing RTC Felicia.

As you can see it is "up in the air" right now. Each year has been different. I'm not going to start explaining all the details and differences yet as I think it would just be more confusing.

What I will do is post the "standard" info I have on Liberty for PIR weekend and we will tackle whatever is granted for this GROUP as we go along!

Normally your new Sailors will not have Leave on PIR weekend. Nor in between PIR and A school or during A school. What they have on PIR day and/or weekend is Liberty. Leave is earned days off and Liberty is normal time off on the work days (and weekends).

**There is an official "stand down" period ...the Holiday Leave Period. Bases go on stand down and Sailors put in a "chit" requesting leave.

BRADMOM - Yay!!!  So glad you got the letter! I have several Military Vets in my family, including hubby who is an Army Veteran of Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm...I was a War Bride! :)
