For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way.

The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for your personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

The next calls for this group should be the I'm a Sailor calls...they will be starting tomorrow afternoon for some divisions.

I do love my ribbon. I put it on a piece of hard stock paper last nite, so that it will not get messed up during my travels. :) My mom says that it's beautiful. Such a keepsake.

I have been really sick and trying to do as little as possible so I could feel better before my Sailors come home for Christmas. I am feeling a little better now and I am going to do a little last minute shopping and then get back home and get busy working again :) i hope you all have a wonderful Sunday. My heart is still very heavy for the loss of all these children and their teachers and all the families.

Positive thoughts that my new job will also want me to come in tues, wed and part day thur this week so I can make enough money to put with what I have so far to go see my baby boy graduate from boot camp! If not I will have to start spoiling him ROTTEN with gifts and visits to Charleston starting next month to TRY to make it up to him. :( Either way I am SOOOO proud of my boy and cant wait to see him and hug him. :) Thanks yall :)

Comment by bclmomct on December 16, 2012 at 10:51am: Thanks southcarolinamom -- taking care of the baby will get much easier on Tuesday when my husband gets vacation and her husband finished his exams at school and we are all headed to IL in the car on Wednesday. But tomorrow between her missing a foot and me missing an arm, we could be a sight. Our biggest prayer is that she has to get in to a doctor tomorrow or Tuesday morning before our son calls home at 3:00 when we all want to be hear to hear his happy voice.

I will keep it in my thoughts and prayers. Also, to take care of a 7month old with a bum ankle will not be fun for her :( Hope she is doing better soon , keep us posted.
