Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way.

The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for your personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by bclmomct on December 12, 2012 at 9:15am: mickeyd -- funny you should put that up this morning...I woke at 3 a.m. this morning and wasn't able to go back to sleep and was praying for SR's also. They are almost there. A week from today we will be getting in the car and heading to PIR. God is good and He's watching over our kids now and always.

Comment by mickeyd on December 12, 2012 at 9:05am: Mothers, pray without ceasing! If BattleStations hasn't already started it could today or tomorrow. From what I read it will be 12 hours of non-stop testing. We will have some tired and weary SR's during this time so we need to be in that gap for them all!

Lord God Almighty give our SRs' the strength and determination to make it though whatever is put before them these next few day. Help each division to come together and be the team that they need to be to accomplish what is required of them. Lord prop them up when they think they can't go another moment. Lord God they are so close to completion and I just ask that they feel your presence and can draw strength from that. Lord be with us, the families that are sitting on pins and needles as we anticipate our next phone call. The I'm a sailor call. I pray all these things in your Son's precious and Holy name, Jesus. Amen.
