Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security)
(Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips)

This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way.

The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

 • Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for your personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I would also like to have the SR info to write him. Just the thought that he is not recieving any mail when all the others are. Our SR said that the letters were the only thing that kept him going and to know that this young man is alone, that's just so sad. Please if you get the address let me know. Thank you

robinbird:  Yes you can.  Private message whoever posted about the SR not getting letters.  You would need to get the name of the SR/address.  It can't be posted on this site, but you can private message it.

Craig, Thank-you sooo much for your comment, I've just printed it out to mail to my SR in 037.....I don't want him to take any chances...I think their already feeling pumped....maybe the gas chamber will bring them back a bit....Though I love that my SR is sooo happy these days!!!

Hey all,
Just want you guys to pass this on to your sailors. "It's not over, until it's over". Let me explain....
I am real partial to this PIR group. Why? My son was in the Christmas PIR group back in 2007. He actually graduated the same day as your sailors, Dec 21st.
Everything was going real well for him. Having hung around all of my sailor friends, he knew the game. He knew everything that was happening at boot camp and knew all the mind games. However, after his division completed battle stations and just 3 days before PIR, his division went a little wild. They were stoked that they were almost ready to graduate.
A bunch of them ended up goofing off and joking around. They were caught by the division officer and the division officer felt that they lost their "military bearing" (composure). About 50% of the division were set back in training because of this. My own son was not part of the group, but he said he would have been but he was ironing his uniform.
Since it was just a day and a half before PIR, the parents, wives, and GF were already headed to GL. Sadly, they didn't know until they got to PIR that their sailors weren't going to graduate.
Lesson learned - Do not goof off just because you passed battle stations. You still must maintain your military bearing. You can celebrate after PIR. Again, It's not over, until it's over. Keep your cool...

We didn't get a call this weekend either and the letter(s) we received still didn't have a date for Battle Stations.  Hoping to hear something by the end of this week!
