N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security)
(Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips)

This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way.

The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

 • Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for your personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Our SR said that he would be receiving his job description, when and where paperwork on Monday. Hope this helps
Comment by Linda Rae on December 8, 2012 at 9:47am

Do the SRs get "written orders" of when & where to report to A school?  If so, when do they get them?  I'm thinking that this would be a little more official than the verbal information.

It does make my life easier when I speak our SR and I hear the happy in his voice. He told us that he is a little sad that it is almost over. Never thought he would say this from what was in his first letter home.

b'snukemom -- I bet our boys are going to have some stories....but I bet we won't hear the half of them.  But smiles are good....and we are down to less than two weeks!!!   Hooyah!!!

One of the things I put in a questionnaire to my son is "I really, really miss......" and his response was "Peeing while standing up!"  Well that brought chuckles from hubby and I!!!!

Love the dancing snoopy Betsy :) She is going to love that!!! BTW, how did the pecan pralines taste?

Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on December 7, 2012 at 6:40pm

TY Betsy and your link worked!

How cute! She'll love it!

I WANT ONE!

Snoopy used to be my Profile Picture...he changed with the seasons...now I have had my Hubby as my PPic for quite awhile...miss Snoopy, but feel the need keep Hubby close on here LOL! That picture was of him on Patrol in Qatar in 2011.

Ironically, when he came home from that first deployment...I found out the Base he was at was "Camp Snoopy". Yes, that was the real name (google it). I have shirts and a challenge coin! Snoopy is flying his Sopwith Camel on them!

Peanuts are my "theme" as far as decorating...the Nativity is always the central one of course <3

trychad - Thank you for posting the date for recruits to turn in their Final Access List!

Again it is 12/14.

The Quarterdeck on Ship 14 on RTC has artifacts from the USS Arizona from Pearl Harbor on it. The recruits on that Ship pass by that.

Craig has done a great FORUM Discussion on Pearl Harbor. Here is the link:

http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/pearl-harbor-day-is-soon-ho...

Here is a bit of trivia from that post about the naming of the USS Arizona in Pearl Harbor.

"There were three (3) U.S. ships named "USS Arizona". Many think that the 1st and 2nd USS Arizona ships were named in honor of state of Arizona. They weren't, Why? Answer: The USS Arizona (BB-39) was indeed the third ship named “Arizona” BUT it is the first named after Arizona, the state. This is became Arizona was the last state in the continental U.S. to join the union in 1912, just one year before she was laid down in 1913. The other two ships were named for the Arizona Territory and they were a Civil War Side Wheel steamer and a post Civil War Steam Frigate. btw: No other ship will ever bear the name USS Arizona out of respect."

Blessings to all your recruits on this day of remembrance.

FYI... I recently had a change in my list of who was attending PIR. I was very concerned I wouldn't get the information to my SR in time for the final list so I emailed the command center. They replied and said that the SR's will not complete the final list until 12/14. Whew! That's a relief! It's getting close!!! Whoo Hoo!
