For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way.

The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for your personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

The shipping is free. The seller is pirgifts. I hope this helps. If you can't locate it, then send me a priv mssg and I will try to help further.

It should arrive by tomorrow at noon. I hope there isn't a problem with me mailing it that way. I didn't mail anything else. Just the travel information. This at least makes me feel better. I hope everyone is getting all there loose ends in order and counting the days to PIR!!

Comment by MommaJeri on December 6, 2012 at 6:42pm: Drew's Mom - no paperwork was sent out for Leave after PIR. It has been done by phone calls & letters. A very frustrating process as 'things' keep changing! grrr.

diannep - yep, rather frustrating as we were originally going to pick SR up early on the 22nd & "see Chicago". Now, we will probably pick him up, go to dinner and start for home. The bright side is that he originally was going to return to GL on the 28th but is now not returning until 3 Jan. :)

bclmomct - we rec'd our son's Ship medal (13 - USS Marvin Shields) today as well ! I agree, it is beautiful!! So glad your son got "ET". Hope that means my son was notified of the Navy's choice, too! :)

My sailor said the weather was nice enough Sunday they didn't need their parkas. Also said he got ET which he seemed to be very excited about. God is good!!!
