N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security)
(Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips)

This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way.

The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

 • Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for your personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

BradMom - what email did you use?  I still have not received a confirmation...trying not to worry (I emailed on 12/1 & again on 12/5).  I just sent an email to rtc.pao@navy.mil and am hoping maybe to hear from someone.....but I think they are gone for the day....

Comment by diannep on December 6, 2012 at 3:44pm

Welcome to the group, Drew'sMom!  Totally agree....a sailor is a sailor is a sailor...no matter how long it took to get there!   But I'm confused...I thought that if they had not passed their PFA by PIR date, they stayed in FIT until they did...then did BattleStations and headed straight to A School (no PIR).  Has that changed?

I booked my son itinerary on Nov 24th and on the 26th I emailed as he told me to do it but never got a confirmation so I made a copy of the itinerary just as airline sent it to me and mailed to him to physical address in GL. When he called me on Sartuday, Dec. 1st , he said that he didn't get the email but got my letter with the copy. He showed to his commander and he approved so he said he was set to leave on Dec.21st at 4 pm and allow to fly late same day. Now, I'm just stressed to hear all of you guys having some difficulties with travel issues....hopefully he would call me this Sat and re-confirm:) Good luck everyone!

MommaJeri:  Oh boy....so they can't leave until the day after PIR?  Others had reported that they could leave at 1600 on PIR day.  I wish that RTC would come out with something official for you all so that plans can be made.  I had heard that they couldn't fly out until the 22nd, but then someone else said their new sailor would be flying out the night of the 21st.  Sigh....seems that something official should be issued ...and SOON!

I rec'd a letter from my SR yesterday asking that I change the day of his flight. Since I haven't rec'd a confirmation yet, I went ahead & did it, sent a new itinerary and mailed new 'hard' copies to him. He also said that his leave will now NOT begin until 12/22 @16:00.  :/

I emailed RTC and inquired about my confirmation, they responded in less than 1 hour after my email advising me to re email my son's travel information.  And that I should get a confirmation, I would advise anyone who has not received an email confirmation and it has been 5 days to contact them and email the information back again.

When my son called last Saturday, he told my wife he'd be booking his own flights home and back. I guess we don't need to provide his itinerary.

Two weeks from today we'll be at the airport heading for Chicago.

I never received confirmation for my sons travel itinerary.  I called PAO this morning and they basically told me that it is the responsibility of each RDC to send out confirmations and that they (PAO) didn't have any information on it otherwise.  So I will just hope that they got it and I can't worry about it now!  (I did send it 2 times - one from home email and one from work email).

Comment by Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor on December 6, 2012 at 11:31am

My son graduated on 12/17/10 and I do remember that some in our group had to wait quite a bit longer than others for the travel confirmation as well.  There was no rhyme or reason to who got it or when they got it.  I received my confirmation the very next day, (but I was a bit of a trouble maker who called  PAO a few times, so they may have just wanted to get rid of me quickly, lol) but some had to wait up to a week before the received their confirmation.

I would see no harm in sending it again, because there is always the possibility that maybe it didn't go through.

Comment by BradMom on December 6, 2012 at 9:42am

Good Morning, I have not received my travel confirmation either.  Should I resend it? Praying all is ok.
