N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security)
(Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips)

This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way.

The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

 • Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for your personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I still have not received confirmation for the itinerary I sent (on Saturday and again today).  What is the phone # for PAO that you are all talking about?  Can I call them tomorrow?  And what is their email?  I will try emailing them too.

Help please!

i am getting concerned as we are traveling via car and I sent mapquest email from mapquest.  That is not PDF but it is very readable.  I have not received confirmation and when I tried to call them earlier this week at that number that you all have posted with a question, it tells me that no one is manning the phone basically.  Will they accept the mapquest directions?  When should I expect confirmation back?

Thanks Rosanne - I will do that. Yes, he was upset because they told him he would not be allowed leave if they didn't get it in ASAP.  Thank goodness I was home and able to deal with this, immediately. It breaks my heart for them because they feel discouraged when they are told they can't come home!  I told my son to not worry and that I would handle it right away.  I assured him I had purchased all his airline flights and booked our hotel.  He felt relieved and I hope they get my PDF format and able to open it. :-)

Email PAO and phone them in the AM. Be persistent until you get a confirmation. My SR was upset when he called last night as well, which did not make me too happy since I was emailed a confirmation previously.

Please say a prayer for us. I just resent my son's itinerary in PDF format.  I hope to get confirmation soon.

@Nauticalgem-I had received confirmation that itineraries had been rec'd on Sunday BUT then rec'd a call from my SR late last night saying that they did not receive all itineraries. I had to resend all itineraries last night as he stated they needed to be rec'd last night. I called PAO all morning long and sent two emails asking for confirmation of the itineraries. A few hours later, I FINALLY I spoke with someone from PAO and they contacted my SR's RDC and got confirmation.

@robinbird - I'm having a friend convert it to pdf for me! I will cross my fingers that it will work.  For some reason, American Airlines sends it in a weird format. grrrrrrr

Nauticalgem.. I will cross my fingers. I had to send mine twice to..... But it worked.. Yeh.... ;-).
Comment by NauticalGem(Ship02/Div904) on December 5, 2012 at 8:05pm

@Robinbird - yes, I had it sent directly from the airline but it came in too small. So I just now forwarded what I had received from the airline and typed the information as well.  I don't have a pdf converter.
