Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security)
(Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips)

This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way.

The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

 • Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for your personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

A few have asked about your future Sailors and transportation from the Airports to TSC GL. Here is what I have:

They have to provide their own transportation back to TSC GL. BUT Captain Lintner of TSC GL has suggested checking with the USO's for Midway and O'Hare. They might have something. He has been posting on this site for us (What a great CO!)

Here is a link to the GL A school Group Stand Down at Christmas Discussion:

http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/stand-down-at-christmas?gro...

Here are the USO links:

O'hare is 24/7 and Midway is 9 AM- 9PM (24 hours as military need arises):

USO O'Hare

USO Midway

Milwaukee does not have a USO.

I am also sure that SARGE will be busy getting them back. Here is his number:

Whoops...mickeyd...so sorry you missed your sons call  just "because". :-(

I am going to pray he gets to call back as some of the call was "business" related. One can always have hope :-)

bclmomct - Whyever not??!! LOL Well, it was a team effort and he can take pried in his one crafting adventure!

Hey, it involved wire, electrical stuff, hanging it etc! A "guy" craft!

Hope your surgery went well adn you are recovered/recovering nicely!

mickeyd - Yikes, I don't know if this will work, but try emailing PAO or calling them. They are out of the office of course on the weekend, and I am not even sure if they would be able to do anything. It can't hurt to ask though as this is a special situation.

I am going to pray that he does not buy it until he speaks with you!

Worse comes to worse, if it happens, maybe one of the ones either of you buys can be exchanged for his ticket to A school?

Here is PAO's contact info:

Phone:   Public Affairs Office 847-688-2405

bclmomct, I love your wreath. Very creative and very pretty! Your child will be so happy.

I missed my son's call today. He left a message that he is buying his ticket to come home after graduation tomorrow. I have already purchased his ticket. Does anyone know a way to get a message to someone to tell him not to do this. He is with 11/37.

Comment by bclmomct on December 1, 2012 at 6:22pm

FTLW you are right and the best part is that I bought everything, but didn't get it done before my rotator cuff surgery, so my sweet hubby put it together for me. He told me not to start expecting him to start crafting with me.

Wonderful post, bamamom.  People are truly amazing when there is a time of urgent need for others.  So glad that your family has experienced that!
