~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I have changed the title to your GROUP. I believe that that will be the number of Divisions for this GROUP (I do not have an "official" from RTC yet.). If anybody has something different, like an 800 (804 specifically) PLEASE let me know.
I have a report of Division 046 being in the 01/04/2013 PIR GROUP. That means that it should start with 045 as this one has 044 in it.
RebeccaProudWife, my son is deployed on the carrier, USS John C. Stennis, which is currently in the middle east. My blue Navy Scentsy candle has been burning continuously since August and it will stay lit until we have him home again in April.
I just have to wonder just HOW the heck someone sneaked in a phone to boot camp...?!?!?!
Pennadair: You are very welcome! We N4Moms veterans have been through this already...and have also been on this site for a long long time to help ....so we have seen most all situations and hope that because of that, we can help you all!
Ahhh, RebeccaProudWife mentioned the blue candles. We haven't talked about those on this site in a while.
The blue candles (any kind you want) are usually lit when your sailor is going through a test, on deployment, or you are just thinking of him/her. During Battlestations, some keep them lit through the night that their SR is going through (some opt for electric candles so as not to burn down the house!). It is just a nice way to honor your SR/sailor....a tangible reminder of him/her when not there with you.
And, yes, as Betsy and Lala said, it does get much better for the SRs as they go along....you will see this reflected in their letters/phone calls---more positive comments. Hell Week (training week 4) is the turnaround week for many....they have their graduation in sight then...much more positive news! So hang in there...."this too shall pass!"
ZmansMom: Oh, how awful. Prayers for this young man. That he will fully recover and be able to stay at bootcamp.
Hang in there, the first letters are often like this. Betsy is right, it will get better. You will be able to see the changes as each letter arrive :) We are all here for you any time you need us :)
Zman's mom, my prayers are going out to him. ((hugs))
Ingrid, take deep breathes, sweetie. They are strong young men and women and they will do just fine. Also, a trick that I used when my son was in boot camp, was to try to remember that by the time you get their letter, the mood of that letter has probably already passed. I'm sure that things are getting better for your SR's by now and as each day passes, that's one more day closer to seeing them.
Maybe I am over reacting....I don't know right now on my emotions. My head knows this breaking down thing needs to happen but my heart is saying NO WAY and is breaking. I almost feel more distressed then I did this morning now that I got his letter and know what he is feeling and thinking. He said in his 2nd letter that things were SLOWLY getting better with the div but they have a long way to go. and everyone has an internal clock that is ticking until graduation. I sure hope the next letter is better. I pray we get a call soon from them.
THANK YOU to everyone for the encouraging words and prayers. I know I am in a safe place to vent and cry with all of you as we are all going through the same thing and understand each other. Much HUGS to everyone
