This is the final test for your recruits.  When they pass this, they are sailors and trade in their recruit cap for their sailor cap in a capping ceremony afterwards. The ship they do this on was designed by Disney, so it is very realistic. During the 12 hour overnight drill, they encounter every situation that they might face when deployed on a ship.  It is a night of adrenaline and focus.

Up to 4 divisions can go at once, but sometimes only 2 or 3 go.  Brother divisions go together.  800 and 900 divisions go randomly.  They start with the lowest numbered divisions and move up.  They can start on the Thursday night, a week before PIR.  They skip Fri and Sat nights because of Captains Cup on Saturday (athletic competition between divisions...fun for them!).  They can resume BattleStations Sun-Wed nights during PIR week. Something a Chief said about Battlestations:

150-300 SRs go at a time, 3-10 of them will fail and have to repeat it, the most important thing is TEAMWORK. If the SRs keep their mouths shut, listen, and work as a team, they should pass.

The brother divisions in this PIR group are:

63+64, 65+66, 67+68, 69+70, 71+72, 73+74

804

912

"I'm a Sailor" phone calls will start to come in the day they finish, usually starting around 2 pm GL time and going into the evening.  They may need to complete PIR practice first so be patient.  Some may have watch and won't call until the next day.

When you get a BattleStations date from your recruit, post it here and I will add it to the schedule.

HOOYAH!

Got a call from my SR. He said division 69 is doing bs 21 on6-2 which he thinks will be 6 Feb.
Thanks.  I added it to the schedule up top.  If you hear of any change, please post here.  It should be either 2/6 or 2/7 for sure that they start them for 69 and 70.
Thats is what I think too Dianne.  I will let you know if we hear anything different.  He said they would be 6-2 just not sure what calendar day 6-2 will be.
Ok, so we have a discrepancy on 69's date!  I think I will put both dates down on the schedule with a questionmark until I hear from a few others to confirm.  Thanks, mdubtxmom and texanfour, for letting me know!
I guess it depends on whether or not they are going to run on Sunday Night.  Dianne says that sometimes they do and this is a big PIR group so they might.  Hopefully we will get confirmation of Sunday or Monday.  Either way by Tuesday evening 2/8 we should have received "I am a Sailor" calls!
I'm thinking that 71 and 72 may go with 73 and 74....and that 912 may join 69 and 70.  But just a guess!  Waiting for posts from all of you to try and pin down dates!
Yes, you are correct, mdubtxmom.  They do sometimes run on Sunday night.  In fact, the 1/28 group had them last night and will be awaiting calls today.

I saw this elsewhere and thought is was good info to share.

The lighting of a blue candle is a tradition with several different stories.  The candle is lit for Sailors separated from their families during the holidays, for Sailors in danger far away, or to light a Sailor’s way home.  It’s also popularly used as a way to mark the time recruits complete the most arduous part of their training - Battle Stations - in a sense to bring them “home” to complete boot camp and become Sailors.

Burn your candles responsibly. If you are going to leave them unattended or burning throughout the night, ensure they are not going to burn your home down. Someone suggested setting them in a metal pan on top of your stove or even in your bath tub. You want the hot wax to be contained and you want the candle stable so it won't fall over, or get knocked over by accident. In the event it falls over, you want precautions in place to prevent a fire. Remember that most household candles are not meant to be burned for 12-24 hours straight so please spend the extra money on a good one.

Is it considered "bad luck" at all to not let it burn all night? I would probably just put it out when I go to bed...

Well I hope it's not bad luck!!  I have to travel and stay in a hotel room the night of my SRs Battle Stations, and I am sure candle burning is a big no no!

SInce I dont work, I am going to Attenpt to stay up all night for ALL of us!
