I got two letters today and I'm so excited because it is the first communication where he was actually upbeat!   I guess it took him a little longer to get over the homesickness.  He says he still misses everyone, but he is getting used to everything.  He is getting his eyes off himself and talking more about team work among his division.  He said his division is still struggling a bit, but he is confident that they will get it together.  He has made a good friend who is really good with computers and teaching him a lot about it.  His buddy is a nuke....last name begins with M.(if its your son, send me a message.).  His sense of humor is coming back and he is talking more about the future.  What a burden has been lifted off me!

I'm a little concerned over his knee though which has had him on light limited duty.  I hope it doesn't keep him from running and getting ready to pass that final PFT.  Keep him in your prayers!

exxie...really tough call....I would try and stay out of it.  The best you can do is tell her about the limited space and getting into PIR.  Ultimately, it is your son's call, rough growing up.....but it is one of those catch 22 situations for you.

Sorry about that....just had to let it out

Okay, if you want something a little different and kind of interesting to write about here is something I found very cool. This year we have the dates 1-1-11, 1-11-11, 11-1-11. and 11-11-11. Now with all those 1's in your mind take the year you were born let say '63 and add that to the age you will be this year 48 and you get 111. It works for everyone, try it. :)

We received 2 letters today from our son.  All is well, he is really starting to get the hand of things.  He said his division finally got their first BRAVO ZULU!!!  Things are looking up for division 80...they're finally coming together as a team.  He said he has been promoted to Starboard Watch and he is giving it 100%!! I am so PROUD of him.  Can't wait to 2/18/11!!  These letters really made my week...I was having such a crappy one until today!!  Hope everyone receives letters today too!

You guys are GOOD!!  My husband, of course, is baffled about why I would be so silly as to think a 19-year-old boy would tell his {gasp} mother the truth about a girl!!  LOL!  But since he expressed interest in someone else entirely, I kinda thought it might be so.

Anyway, it does seem likely that this girl would have asked HIM about PIR and gotten the "you should maybe talk to my mom about that" because she is familiar with the Navy processes . . . having previously dated a boot-camper.  Grrrr how I WISH I could pick up a phone!!!  ;)

She may have asked about it, I am sure he does not want to hurt anyone, and maybe he is wanting her to talk to you so she understands how tight everything is. Let her know that you have already made reservations, and used his four PIR, although she will probably be able to get in, she would have to wait till all others are seated.  She may feel a stronger relationship than he does, they are going thru so much, it is not something he should be worrying about....if she wants to pay her own way, and wait for tidbits of his time, I would say she feels more than friends.....so he is the one who will have to make the final decision.
