Blessed ~ So sorry about your hubbys fall, he broke some ribs right? We were the family that was going to take your Sailor to a movie on the day you were leaving. We also missed the M&G too, the traffic was bad coming back from Chicago :-(
We have one very happy Sailor in Pensacola waiting for his laptop and cell to arrive!! They have golf course on base and they train martial arts including his love Ju Jitsu, AND he says no one has shouted at him yet!! He thinks he has gone to heaven!
My son is also in GL awaiting A school for ET. I have talked o him every day since Graduation. Says he misses BC! Imagine that? He is really stressed out for some reason right now. Maybe just the change? Says he is afraid of missing Muster. He volunteered to take out the trash one day while they called Muster and got in trouble even though he was doing what they told him to do. I wish he would just relax a little before Classes begin. He says they should get over night liberty in a couple of weeks.
I miss the anticipation of getting the letters. Getting the mail isn't the same now. I'm glad to be able to call or text but those letters hold a special place in my heart. I think all or our sailors are in a bit of shock! During bootcamp they were told what to do every step of the way. I'm sure this extra freedom is kind of weird for them. Being on hold for school I suppose can get kind of boring. I think, soon, they will all settle in and actually get to be students. They will enjoy their new routine. I can imagine they will enjoy being out of phase 1 and finally get to have liberty with their civillian clothes on. They won't know how to act!!
My son is FC in GL. He too had finance class yesterday or the day before. Good class for them to have!! I know he is ready to settle into school but is on hold for I don't know how long. He is a man of few words when it comes to details.
Have a great day!! :)
So sorry to hear about your husbands fall Blessed. My husband just about went down too on Monday morning about 8 am. We were staying at the Residence Inn. They had salted the sidewalks and the parking lot just looked wet. So off he went. I've never seen such fancy footwork. My husband could have fallen so easily too. Hope your hubby is feeling better. I've heard broken ribs hurt like h#ll.
I heard from my son today. He's in Pensacola. Said he actually misses BC where at least you know what to do! That made me smile because I'm sure about 2 days into BC he wanted to be anywhere else but there. I told him he'd settle into a routine and it would feel "right" again. I got his address so I can mail the phone and computer tomorrow. He said he has to wait about 2 months for his school to start so he'll probably be in Pensacola for a year. His rating is CT-N. Tough school I understand. But I refuse to worry! :-/
Whiteclay, I got a message on FB from mine that they got moved in. We actually forgot to take his phone...I KNOW, can you believe we did that! And, he forgave us! We are waiting on his temporary address so we can mail it to him. You really know more than I do about everything else. Mine is also ET, was FC, but changed in Basic. He did say they may be on hold for a week or so.
Thanks for the message earlier. Our flight was delayed leaving Augusta on Thurs and we didn't make it to M&G. And, when leaving, my husband fell on the black ice in the motel parking lot and broke 3 ribs...so, we were delayed leaving GL and coming home. Life...
I am glad to hear Darnells daughter is with them. Between the three of us and the three of them we just might figure this thing out! Let me know if you hear more and I will do the same.
Does anyone know of a good Chinese restaurant in the Waukegan/Gurnee area?
Thank you!
