Yeah, I remember! It was so much fun to get meet some of you wonderful ladies at the Meet and Greet. We're coming up on the 2 year mark of our kids ship date. Mine is Dec. 14. Sometimes is feels like it was just yesterday, and then other times, if feels like it's been 4 years already!
Anyone remember the pink Scarves from 2011 BC Graduation? I still have mine. It puts a smile on my face remembering that day at graduation for our sailors.
Just checking in... Is is REALLY almost 2 years since we sent our kids off to bootcamp!???? Anthony has been aboard the USS Enterprise since March 11th. It has been a VERY long deployment, will end up being a week short of 8 months. Looking forward to it's homecoming, especially since the Legendary Big E will be retired and decommissioned upon it's return. His rate is so overmanned that he STILL hasn't been able to do what he was trained to do! Hoping he gets to before he leaves the Navy!
Hope this is finding everyone doing well!
Wow Kathy! You are like the ultimate Navy Mom! You have my respect!
Hello ladies! I really miss this group. From time to time, we should just check in and get caught up.
I got to spend a week with my son in July. Eleven of us traveled down and got a townhouse on Hilton Head and he was able to take a couple days leave to be with us. I was in heaven, but it was hard leaving him. He is getting ready to choose orders for overseas now and I'm a little nervous about where he will end up. But fortunately, wherever it is, God is still there.
Daysleeper, its good to hear about your son and his wife. When will you get to see him again?
How about everyone else? How are you doing and how are your sailors? We're getting close to the halfway point of their enlistment, but for me, its seems like my son has already been there four years!
my son is on a smaller ship, not a carrier. He really likes it. He has been on deployment since December. I heard from him and what a joy to hear his voice. I thank God for the calls, letters and emails.
I remember standing in that line outside in the cold waiting to get inside for the ceremony. That wind was brutal! It will be a nice change in the summer.
Kathyf, if we time this right, I will get to see my son graduate in his dress whites, since my daughter graduated in Feb. and hopfully my son will graduate in Aug or Sept. One thing I learned with the Navy, don't even try to make plans!
I still have my pink scarf too. Sometimes I wear it with my winter coat. My daughter has been on deployment since December. Really miss her. In about a year I will be going through boot camp and PIR all over again with my son. This group has been the best though. I'm glad we still talk occasionally.
My son is on the Enterprise. Out since mid March.
